I think most of them do....... erm i do sometimes lazy.... prawn rod oso nd to maintain de hor..... It's always better to use personal cos most rods tat vendors provide are pretty stiff and tats whr u cant feel e prawns' bite tensions. Personal rod's more flexi n fights beri well. Bishan not bad, highly recommended. Pasir ris can try but don b full at times, sometimes reli no prawns wan.... i diao until flare up n !@#$%^&* on e spot.

hmm, for me pasir ris better than bishan leh, duno mayb my heng at pasir ris.. the farmway 1.. prawning got alot of factors in play, so it all depends on luck, besides temperature, timing n esp spot.. east coast park oso got open new one.. anyone got try before?

LOL, dig this "dead thread" up again.......anyway went bishan a few days ago and saw MiXue at the counter.......i think it was a tue night, then next day saw u again at boonlay shopping centre there......

btw our catch not so good, 4 rods together only 20plus prawn.....whats the good timing to go there????

:)

personally i tink prawning best go in the afternoon, when its hot n prawns are hungry for food.. too cold prawns oso i tink syiok sleeping..

well maybe........ :)

so guys share ur tips leh......

It's kinda hard explaining here tho, u have to c n learn on e spot more effective. Basically, 1st u nd to measure e water length with e rod handle face dwn. note how deep ur rod can go, make a note by using ur fingertip, adjust e float tally against ur fingertip mark, hook mux b jux nice rch e handle of ur rod (can allow abit of allowance for smacking)

If using personal rod mux wipe with clean cloth after every prawning session to prevent it from turning rusty or duno wat balls.... but if u easily heart pain den clean lor. i don reli clean it.... if u go buy rod u jux ask e ppl thr they will teach u on e spot like how to tie e hooks n lines, 4 sizes of hooks for which kind of location n prawning methods:thumb:.

My leader very simple.. 3 - 4lbs as long as the prawn cannot break it yet very thin line so that prawn dun detect much resistance or doubt ur bait and think twice to go whack the tasty chicken heart u put in. hook size depends.. usually i use size 3 or 4. but more often size 3. the weight is those normal lead weight u can easily buy at any tackle shop. no need to clip. just hook it onto ur hook and dip in slowly. take care becos i got few "water gun" friends lose a lot of my weight while doing that. heng i alway bring extra.

some thing i usually do.. my leader will not be longer than 1 and a half "kukubird" length. so that when u put in, the bait will reach the floor fast instead of floating about with the current inside. trim all extra tiny line on the knot or hook becos they usually get entangle with the swivel and ur bait will be hanging in mid water.

for striking a prawn, if u adjust ur length of line from float to bottom sui sui, once a prawn bite, the float sure dip in.. for this, either strike when the float is still in the water but not floating back up or while the float is still sinking. never strike when the float is in the water yet raising. this is becos the prawn is handling ur bait with their hand too. if float is raising, means their hand is adjusting or had slip off ur bait and want to grab again. if the float is sinking, means the prawn is happily munching on ur bait. another method is by using ur heart or 6th sense. maybe success rate is 5 out of 10.. i dunno.. lol.

happy prawning.. i am now trying saltwater one. will share my method if i find out

i think there are a lot people here very pro in prawning..go together with them and learn.. was being laughed today at work when one of the staff pluck some coconut and treated me to eat. gave me a chopper to DIY.

while trying to figure out how to do it and whack anyhow, the lao jiao joked about me saying i am town people.. ask the kumpong people to do it and learn from them. and damn true.. it's a priceless learning experience.

ps: i like ur hair colour.. no matter how i try, the color will never reach ur stage.

...that's a wig. x'D

hmm... that makes me wanna observe than to try it out myself in case I get mocked at... Or prolly gonna solo go there practice before going out with the others... ^^; learning information is one thing, trying out is another... the last time i tried prawning, i literately made the prawn fly in the sky and landed behind me... okay... dangerous in case i hit someone, so to say.

Hello All Brothers And Sister,

Im new to the fourm. i was looking through the net looking for answers on whats the best baits to lure tiger prawns. as now most of us know that they started out with fresh water ones, guess they kind of upgraded with salt water ones too and some even lobster. Anyways, anyone here knows whats the best baits use to lure tiger prawns or what normaly is use? Thanks!

Dont mind me saying but its to my knowledge of fresh water prawning, been to lots of prawn ponds area, i had my moments, some were good, some were bad. right now i still do prawning, once a month or so at mcc. and i had went throught reading some of the post like, how to bait, buying rod and so on... The buying of rod part, i think dont waste money. cause the only reason is its much longer then the house rods given where you can reach places of the ponds where house rods cant beside then cool looking design and can get to show off like... waaa! see my own personal rod. but come to think about it, what happens if theres a crowd? your long rod wouldnt really help much as you cant move around. and another thing is no matter how good is your personal rod and your bait is not a good one, you ll wouldnt be catching much? right? anwyay sorry and no hard feelings to those i have offended. As for prawning techics, watch and learn. thats what i did. i first started out real bad, like 3 prawns for 3 hours. lols. thats was crap. but after each time i went prawning, i always keep a look out for anyone who is catching like pros. one after another is like 5 mins or even less. i will always watch them, what they do, how they lure and what bait they use too. theres always a saying. monkey see monkey do.... and monkey always die in 2? hahas.. just joking! cant wait for this coming long weekends rest. :thumb:

baits chicken hearts or livers can be found easily in supermarkets or wet market. for baits like baby catfish i mean real little baby catfish can be found in aquarium shops at clementi blk328 i think..... worms im not too sure.... or u may want to try digging them from the soil under ur blk after the rain...!?!

btw, along neo tiew opened a new prawning area... its actually an aquarium farm which sells amazon fishes, freshwater & sea water stuffs. it's with a big red patch koi fish at e gate.

new prawning area at aroozoo avenue. nearest mrt kovan. can try, heard not bad
