Dear RXZ Bros,

 

Can i check with u all something abt RXZ fuel tank? I had changed the whole set to catalyzer in singapore and now the fuel meter is not working. The shop technican said that not original petrol tank is like that and will forever be shown at empty. But i checked with another technican from another shop and he said actually there is a indicator floater something in the petrol tank that can be adjusted.

 

Can i seek anyone's advice?

 

Hello.

 

I have been through exactly that scenario just last week. Let all petrol out of the tank, then take the tank off the bike and look underneath on the inner-left side. There is a unit with 4 screws. Two wires leave it and end up under the seat, near the 2T tank. Please check if this plug is connected at all and if both wires are connected to the thing in the tank (one of the wires comes from the inside but the second is plugged on from outside, this is likely loose or came off).

 

If all wires are fine and connected and it still does not work, please disconnect the plug that comes from the tank and stick a screwdriver into the plug that belongs to the bike's main wiring (bridge the both "tongues" in there). Switch on ignition and see if the meter goes towards "full". if so the wiring is fine and the problem with the tank sensor - if NOT (i.e. the meter stays at "empty") the problem is elsewhere in the bike's wiring.

 

If the problem is with the tank, open the four screws and the the sensor unit out of the tank. be carefull, it is larger than it appears from outside and has a long "arm" attached to it with a floater in the end. Once you have it out, connect it to the bike's wiring and check again (ignition "on" and move the "arm" up and down, see if the meter responds). If the meter responds -sensor is fine, problem is with tank itself.

 

Make sure the tank is 100% empty. Put the sensor back in, hold it in place with the hand and move the tank up and down so that the "arm" can swing inside. Listen if it hits both ends of it's intended travel. If not, you must bend the arm somewhat to free it - it is likely touching either the inner or outer tank wall which prevents it from moving. Make sure it can move.

 

Next see again if it can hit both ends of it's intended travel. If you hear a louder sound at one end it is hitting the tank top or bottom. Again bend the arm accordingly so that it can move freely to reach both "full" and "empty" positions.

 

Now you are half way there, but now it gets fiddly. Tighten the screws, put the tank on the bike and fill exactly 7 liters of petrol. See what the fuel meter says - it should show "half full". If it shows LESS the arm of the sensor must be bent down. If it shows MORE then the arm must be bent UP. To do this obviously the sensor must come out again - and so must the petrol! This is time consuming, in my own case i had to repeat these steps about 6 times to get it correct (but then i did not accept anything but "100% correct").

 

In my case i changed from one original tank to another, still the newer tank had the opening for the sensor in a slightly different position so it had to be calibrated as described.

 

Best of luck with it, you can do it by yourself, it is not rocket science :) Don't smoke when handling petrol :)

brand new tank from agent $135.

2nd hand tank from scrap yard around $50.

send for respray depends on individual shop for their quotation. that depends the shop has extra tank for you to use or not, if they or u haf extra tank then they do not need to leave your bike at shop.

hi there. who knows how much is a brand new tank ? 1st hand or 2nd hand doesnt matter. and where ? or anyone selling ? or if send for spray, how much ehk ? the shop would give temporary tank tk ? or must leave the bike at shop ? paiseh for the many2 questions at one go . wanna save post uh . heheh !

 

I also wanted to spray my tank.So far, i got 3 different prices from 3 different places, from $110 to $130 to $180.. Isnt it expensive?? the cheapest to respray also like add 20 more bux then get a new tank..like not worth it kann to spray....Just my 2 cents laa..haha

 

Erm, BLurchaoz, the one u mentioned the $135 one is local one or the original ah? i heard that the local one will leak out petrol easily...my tank is the old kinda slightly bigger tank compared to the new catylizer tank..hmmm..

its original bro, go original is always the best if u can afford it. the old tank and the catalyzer tank is the same size. no difference in size at all. both should accomodate 13L of petrol

anyone ever change from catalyzer to the old kotak coverset ? is it more ex to do from catalyzer to kotak then from kotak to catalyzer ? and talking about upshift and downshift, sometimes i have difficulty to kick down to gear 1 from neutral, have to move the bike a bit then i can engage gear 1

seriously...maybe you can check ur clutch free play.maybe too near thats y difficult to change gear.coz if too near the clutch wont engage.

seriously...maybe you can check ur clutch free play.maybe too near thats y difficult to change gear.coz if too near the clutch wont engage.

Everybike has its own unique perangai... tats smthing we cant run frm, which is funny frm a machine... Seems like smthing frm Transformers...

Hmmm... Come to think of it, it happened a day after I changed it. Hmmm... I would say ur rite coz I pour in exactly 600ml of eo... BUT!!!!!! Tis happens rite after I dragged at AYE. Wen slowing down to navigate a bend, I got panicked wen the gear became solid stiff! I had to literally "flyin kick" down the lever... :faint:

want to ask..anybody know where to get oversize front disc brake for RXZ?i want the circle one..cause currently..i'm using this funny shape..when brake..can feel like sangkot2..and also..i want to know..how much does it cost to put racing footrest on RXZ?

recommended stock disc brake $45. surely no sangkot2... legal and dun nid to pay $50 summon plus inspection 100% pass.

 

recommended stock footrest bracket. look smarter when u ride and ur pillion will not look like a katak behind u.

 

RXZ go for a stock outlook. TP love to aim for RXZ so a decent outlook would avoid them from stopping you and going thru a hassle.:thumb:

KL abit dangerous don't u think? Thailand ok ok lah. At least we hav contacts over ther for "just in case" scenarios. Yeah... Can meet Thanh and hav a drag race wif him too!

 

But hmmm... Mite be a while before we can actually go wif the plan, need to let me, my wifey and baby to settle down first. And then my Z's "project"(mcm faham!!!) also hvn't finish yet. Slowly doin up my beloved back... So yeah... Sabar menanti ya...:thumb:
