tank $130-150 ehk ? didnt know its that exp. anw thanks for the info bro. im using local too. just wanna change color, so wanna buy extra tank and side coverset to do up. for tank, how to know if its local or ori ? im using catalyzer, if i buy a tank which is from the kotak model, can i use it ?

Until now i haven't master the art of knowing whether the barang local/ori. That's why kene cheated a lot of times.

But local tank got this properties. Fill up full tank, Go 50-60km/h and teros e-brake. Kalau local tank, minyak confirm tertumpah. Haha.

Kotak model must have mr syamito..dier pakai kotak..

what you mean go 50-60km/h teros e-brake ? i just wanna know if both kotak and catalyzer tank are compatible with each other ? meaning if i use catalyzer, can i use tank from kotak and vice versa

Hi.

Let me answer that for you. I do not understand Malay so i don't know what "kotak" means, however i ride two old RXZ ("Japan type") and on one of them i have a brand new tank (catalyzer type) that i bought from a fellow forum member in Singapore.

There is no difference between the tanks, the petrol sensor fits in, shape is the same and it fits right on my old RXZ, looks the same too. Also the tank capacity is the same.

So i believe as long as your bike is an RXZ, any RXZ tank will fit. And i guess that holds true for pretty much all RXZ parts as one of my old RXZ is also fitted with a catalyzer meter set - which bolted right on, even the electrical connector is the same still..... two screws, one click and it worked.

As some people say a "local" tank has the problem that fuel will spill out, mine (although original Yamaha) had the exact same problem and i found a simple solution. The problem was caused by paint that was missing on one part of the tank inlet rim, this happens when closing the cap. I simply removed (i.e. scratched off with a screwdriver) all the paint on the top of the rim and ever since it has been perfectly sealed, even if i have to brake on the way down that very steep ramp to my parking spot with a full tank, no spillage.

Local tank caps however... sad story, i have FOUR of them and ALL leak petrol through the key hole. Particularly bad here in Thailand where 91 petrol is blood-red...... it always looked like my RXZ was bleeding from that hole, like the hole was a wound. Lucky i have both of my bikes now fitted with genuine Yamaha tank caps - expensive but very worth that money (i had to import one directly from Japan - at the time i didn't know someone in Singapore willing to deal overseas and the second one i got with that new tank).

Kind regards.......

Hi guys, I'm a long-time lurker, first time actual poster. I'm curious about some RXZ related things, so I thought I'd ask RXZ riders.

I don't hear of many people buying brand new RXZs as compared to other bikes. Is there a reason, like poor resale value? Or its harder to sell? I was thinking if I ever wanted to buy a brand new bike for the long term, I would probably buy an RXZ and do it up nicely. Yet I never hear of people doing that.

Also, I've heard that 2 stroke bikes need to have "full service" done every 3-4 months. Is it expensive for RXZ?

All these questions is just to satisfy my curiosity, by the way. I'm not looking to buy a brand new RXZ or anything.

My apologies Thanh, i didn't know you're reading this thread as well. Just some explanation, kotak means box. Coverset kotak simply refers to the old rxz coverset (as u can see the old one is very boxy-type compared to the new catalyzer type).

I still have the persistent fuel leak in my tank when i brake. Your solution seems interesting. Scrapping the paint on the inner walls but I'm worried if u scrape it the paint will go inside the tank(unless you're skillful enough to do that). What I did was to put a layer of this tape on the tank cap(its like a pipe scotch tape or sth, white in colour and flexible, usually seen in pipe at the screws to prevent water from leaking).

First question i dunno how to answer. Second question, i'll link to to my experience currently. From what I hear, rxz maintainance is cheap. Monthly change of engine oil/spark plug is sufficient. But every like 3-6 months, u can do full servicing like me. I regularly go servicing at Johor for RM120 (service, engine oil+spark plug + piston ring). That's like $60.

I have also heard of people servicing their bikes once a year or none at all and their bike can still move. But, in the long run, ur bike won't last long and will start giving problems.

All these questions is just to satisfy my curiosity, by the way. I'm not looking to buy a brand new RXZ or anything.

Anyone knows the cost of re-wrapping RXZ seat?

Re-wrap got a lot of choices. Firstly, u want plain rewrap? All black cloth i mean. There's a lot of grades of cloth for plain seats. Cheapest grade of cloth(which I'm using! haha so budget!) is $14 if I remember correctly.

Location : Beside Ah boy, to the right if u face ah boy shop.

Or u wanna go for those fashionable designs/logo that u can see on the roads on bikes like spark 135, 125z, super4, that one cost $40 for designs on the rack. It will cost more if you wanna customise(create ur names, etc).

Location : The famous auntie shop at jalan besar rd or 219 at jalan besar rd also.

guys, is there pros and cons of using 17" rims ?

Bro I'm using 17 inch rim.

Generally, 18" is for distance and 17" is for pick up/corner.

It also depends on the size of your tyre.(size is like 70/80, 80/80, 90/80, etc) So, experiment with the different combination n u get different feelings. Sotong tyres for speed and fat types for corners.

17 inch rim makes your wheel light. So, u sort of accelerate faster at the traffic light vs a 18" rxz but in speeding, that 18" rxz will overtake u. (Also, depends on your tyre size like I say but this is generally)

Hi :)

@Eno

Many thanks for the explanation :) Now i learned one more word in Malay.... so i can confirm, i have the "kotak" RXZ, two of them. And i can confirm to you, yes, the Catalyzer RXZ tank does definitely fit on those.

By the way the Catalyzer's sticker set/paint scheme does not look bad on such kotak RXZ, please see the attached picture of my two beauties (the black one is the one with the new tank).

As to the 17"/18" stuff, as you can probably see from my photo, the black one uses stock size (18") wheels with stock size tyres 3.00-18 rear and 2.75-18 front, only the rims have been replaced by aluminium ones. The red/silver bike uses 70/90-17 rear and 60/90-17 front. I don't know if that is narrow enough to be called "sotong" tyres however it it IS a difference :)

Now speed/pickup depends on the sprockets! As for me, those two RXZ have comparable pickup - the black bike (remember stock tyre sizes) uses 15-40 while the red one uses 16-34. Now due to all the accessories etc on the black one it weighs about twice as much as the red one (at least feels so), however it's block is bored up to 150cc and ported, too, so it also makes about twice the stock power. With all these factors the black bike is quite a lot faster than the red one (190+ vs 155 km/h) however it somehow prefers to go straight while the red one really loves corners :)

With kind regards.....

Wow. 190km/h ehh..

Btw 'sotong' is a name of a squid. Sotong tyre in singapore is a term that refers to THIN tyres. (like 70/80 size, etc) Sotong tyres is hugely popular in singapore esp for those youngsters who like speed here.

Hmm, more terms coming up soon as we encounter. Soon, thankh, u can speak malay and be a 'mat rempit' (a term for street racer).
