Help today go M'sia then my tyre kana nail... My tyre is original SPEC 2 tyre (think is bridgestone) So I suppose it is a tubeless trye.

So what should I do? Go Motor shop to pull out the nail or need to change the whole tyre?

1) If just need to do some touch up, how much it cost?

2) If I left the nail there, will there be problems in the future?

you can put a patch on it.... but then you have to always keep a watch on your air pressure... and it cost less then 10buck

if you leave your nail in there... then i have no idea what you are thinking of..

For you own safety, please change the tire ASAP. Tire repair kits are used for getting the bike to a shop. Nothing more.

I'm 100% sure there will be others who say they used a patched tire till botak, but since tires are the only contact point with the tarmac, so why risk it?

Tires and brakes should never be compromised, in my humble opinion.

Just curious, where did you get this idea from?

If your theory stands, I think bike shops can cease to offer tyre patching services.. any1 that comes in with a nail, gotta change a new set of tyres leow. And like what S4Sixty said, if that new tyre kena another nail within after a shortwhile, i'll like to see u spend another good few hundred bucks changing them again.

The fact remains that the patch job has just become the weakest point in the tire carcass. The last thing I want is for that patch to fail at the most inappropriate of times. And it is a known fact that tire patch jobs do fail occassionally.

Yes, if I suay suay kenna a nail just after getting fresh rubbers, I would turn around and mount a new one immediately, cursing and swearing along the way... :giddy:

well bro.. so far i haf nt heard patch job fail in my 9 yrs or riding....

maybe u like to define more of the problem which yourself or u heard patch job fail....

Patch job depends on which part of the tire... the side or the centre of the tire...

Unless the mech did nt do a good job in patching or tht someone did it him self...

The only thing a patch will do to a tire is shorten the life span only by maybe a few months only.... of course u knw yurself haf patch job..u wont go n play corner or do hign end stuff.....

i myself was scare when even i haf a patch job.. but if u change the tire and see the "worm" or sticky rubber in it..common sense will tell u.how the hell will this rubber fly out.Thts the common thinking.. plus unless u play at Gudang where the track will soften yur rubber, causing the sticky rubber or the patch job to fail yur tires...

mate, your post just confirmed my point... if a patch job is so safe, why wouldn't you continue playing corners and do track days?

I've had a patch job fail on my GSXR a few years ago. Damn thing somehow dislodged itself and the tire deflated immediately. I was lucky not to hit the sidewall and fly off Benjamin Shears Bridge...

Patching should only be done if the puncture is at the centre of the carcass. But a lot depends on the person doing the repairs. What happens if the hole is a little too large but the mech patches it anyway? If the mech does not use enough rubber cement, then how? Patching introduces many more variables for tire failure which I am not prepared to accept.

Maybe I'm more paranoid, as I need my tires to be 100% going full bore into PG turn 2...

To each his own. Peace.

well bro... u r right.. safety comes first....

personally for me.. patching is still ok for normal road conditions...

but for track. its maybe nt good enough cause the tar on the gudang surface...is different from the normal roads in sinagpore..Race tracks road makes yur tire more soft due to the structure n compond to make u haf a better grip...thts one of the reason y i reduce air when i go in and play...cause if u play more round.. the road in the track makes yur tires soften... plus increase hot cause yur air to expand too... Due to the expension of tire.. u wont knw if the expension expends propotional with the STICJY rubber...

No offence bro... share share views...

correction, infact ulysses_sc cannot afford a costly repair bills or to buy a brand new bike, thats why he rather pay couple of hundreds for new tires....

Infact you guys are the richer ones, always ready to buy new bike....HEHEHEHE

oh :sorry:

i think u get the wrong meaning of me.read be4 post lah.me never mention 2 ready 2 change new bike.i not that rich 2 buy a bike.

patch it doesnt mean bike goin buang at anytime.if u mean it,den during the dist u travel 2 change tyres is in great danger liao.anythig u r playing dice liao.

i can say i m not those race type tat go PG.i take bike as a liesure n transport n not 2 racing.a patch tyres is go if u dun speed plus govt got motto "speed kills".

i m those relax rider so i would use all parts of the tyres.i wouldnt go speed as why waste ur life doin this kind of act?

i noe an uncle riding super4 got his tyre nail n he patch back n use till botak n change tyres.he can do it y cant i?is the riding skills tat matter whether u need 2 change new tyres.normal riding dun mind a patch tyres.

well bro.. u seen n said it yurself... uncle can do it y not u?

I haf done tht before...

Patch tires does nt mean no good or nt worthy for road condition.. if its nt worthy then police or LTA will come n catch up liao Rite..

Since u say yur style is relax riding , i think its ok for u to patch n still ride.. but u must make an effort to check for the first week,, the air pressure plus check if air is coming out... its a bit important for the first week.. if first week. its ok then u just need to check once in a while....

i once had a key stuck in it..u knw those main door key... Kaox... haf to first gear n stand beside bike to do a patch jb.. can still ride... just relax riding n pay attention to the tire.. cause its new tire.....use until i feel its nt safe.. then i change loh.....

Not everybody.. is Super rich to change a new bike or rather Rich to change tires...

each time they got nail....
