nope... I didn't want to do any modifications. vfr is hot enough to dry my reservoir dry... so changing to a smaller 1 is pointless...

Have anyone tried Engine Ice on ya viffer? It seem to run cooler than most of the coolant that I have used.

At serious traffic jam, it touches abt 100c max on my 03 gen 6! Today I revert to those ordinary motul coolant,

the temp shot up to 110c...

U got the red vfr gen 5 har?? Is quite normal for my bike.. Normally 100 fan will kick in liao. So will be hot.

If u worry, go change the coolant and service it lo..

bros,

just changed coolant to engine ice...but i think my fan isnt kicking in...temp shot up to 114 on heavy traffic...

Condition:Ambient temperature: 28~33 deg:

On the move (expressway speed) temp: coolant Temp: 85 to 95 deg.

Stationary (say at the stop light): 100 deg +/1 5deg is ok as long as the fan kicks in a bring it down.

Fan should kick in at 99-101 deg to cool things down. If not check these:

1. Cooling fan switch is working.

2. Check fan is working.

3. Check that the coolant level is up to spec and that there is no air-lock at the fan switch. Air lock can cause the temp to go up to 110 deg but fail to activate the fan as the fan switch cannot reach its trigger temp of 100 deg.

Bro,

apologies for my noob question.....but how do i go about doing these checking?

cheers

i did some trouble shooting according to the manual...everything now is working. Fan kicks in at 100deg...

whats the ideal temperature range for Gen 5 on the move and idling in a busy road?

cheers

my gen 5 range is around 79-100

79 when cruising 80-100

80 plus is when slightly jam

90 plus to 100 is when slow moving traffic

my fan kick in @ 105 deg

however i got manual switch for it too, sometime when temp reach 90-95 i on it first to slow down the temp

ohh ok...mine cruising 80-100km = 85-95deg, slight jam or slow moving traffic 90-110deg

but my fan kicks in around 105 too. Just change coolant to engine ice.

i dunno if theres anything to worry about. Maybe its just psychology...

how do u install the manual switch?

i ask my mechanic to do it for me they will link wire to the fan to be able to switch on

bro so to say the fan will kick in at 105deg...plus u can manually switch it on?
