hey guys wat coolant u all using? my bike temp meter more den half i tink not enough coolant.. where u all buy from and wat brand?

bro

better go check the coolant level before u buy a bottle~

squat on the rear right side of the bike and read the level of the coolant in the reservoir. reservoir is the white container located to the left of the rear suspension. shake the bike abit to make it seasier to spot the coolant level.

i have some spare Shell ready-mix coolant if u wan. some leftovers in 1 bottle & an additional full unopened bottle. bought from Shell mart at ard $5/bottle if i dint remember wrongly.

CBR150 is very light only 115kg. Stablility is an issue at >100km/h. When strong wind blow can feel the impact must counter it. That why i thinking of getting a bigger heavier bike like super 4.

actually, in singapore the impact of the wind issue is not too big lah, unless u go touring often. i understand sometimes along highways will experience sudden of gushes and catch us off balance a bit, but i experienced the same thing on my super 4 last time too. i wonder how heavy a bike will we need in the end?

when does the knocking sound come??

mine also will have this slight rattling sound when i 1st start bike after parking overnight. guess they call it the hestitation period or smth, before the bike piston and piston rings warm up. but once after moving off, the rattling sound will disappear.

before i changed cam tensioner, there is this other rattling sound that comes on and off when the engine is idling. after replacement, sound also disappeared. hehe.

this is a prevalent problem, especially with the honda phantom. can try getting it changed, probably will solve it. i changed 1 on my phantom before and the rattling sound really disappeared too.

ermm, if u're caught in the jam, it's common for the bike to hit up to even 3\4 the temperature gauge. i'm not sure if it's the bike's characteristics or stock coolant is lousy. :cheeky: i'll flush my coolant in december when my cbr150r becomes 2 years old. probably will try something that's universally proclaimed good and see if it can bring down the temperature.

my mechanic once commented that the white container is actually the coolant reservoir and even if tt's full doesn't mean that the radiator is full with coolant. must open up radiator to check also. cuz it the radiator cap is not working properly it cannot draws the coolant from the reservoir to top up the radiator. hope this is useful

true.

the coolant flow may be disrupted due to some blockage of coolant hose somewhere.

perhaps the only way to confirm that the coolant is flowing normally will be to release some coolant frm the radiator & then observe if the coolant level in the reservoir will fall?

hi guy need some help from u all just now i went to wash my bike and thinking of just to check the engine oil level so i saw one at the side of the radiator side the enigine there got a knot i try turn and turn but still not moving and the engine is cold liao how is it must bring to bike shop i try get something to knock but still cant

Posted
So should i top up from the radiator or from the reservoir? tink i just go buy myself.. thanks don.. this sat and sun any of u going to the big bike fest?

when i replaced the coolant in my bike, i top up thru the radiator cap till i could see the coolant when i peep thru the opening. after that put back radiator cap and start bike, let the coolant flow thru the entire cycle and see if u need to top up more thru the coolant reservoir.

i remember it states in the owner manual that we should not top up coolant frm the coolant cap. think they are afraid that we open up the radiator cap when the coolant is boiling hot and spurts out. so pls be careful bro.

got yrself a GSX400? :cheeky:

riding on a 2-lane road

i was on the right and him on the left.. we were approaching this T-junction and he signalled right so i slowed down let him cut to the right as i wanna turn left also lah..

then after he moved to the right i moved out to the left

suddenly out of no where when i was beside him he move towards the left agn and bumped into me..

wtf!! so pissed off man..

gonna go to bed liao.. tomorrow's a brand new day!!

hm, i guess it is pretty up to individuals on how they feel the 'wind' effect.

my past bikes are as follows:

Honda NSR 150 (1/2 year)

Honda WaveS 125 (3/4 year)

Kawasaki KRR ZX150 (1 year)

Yamaha X1 (1 & 1/2 year)

Honda CBR150R (1/2 year)

cant comment much on the NSR150 since i was a total newbie when i got the bike. before i could learn much abt riding, sold off the bike & went for smth with lower fuel consumption.

i must say that the 'wind' effect was pretty bad on a Wave. u can observe this on those kups when u ride behind them on highways. when the wind comes, u can almost see the bike tail swaying abit.

KRR was pretty good. no doubt i could still feel the 'wind effect' but i guess the monoshock and heavier weight helped significantly.

the X1 is the tricky one. either i got used to riding bikes against strong winds or somehow the 'wind' effect didnt bother me as much as when i rode the Wave.

as for CBR150, i personally feel not much difference in 'wind' effect compared to X1 (now u knw why i suspect i got immuned already) but according to my pillion, the 'wind' effect seemed to be a little more as compared to X1 (probably due to the higher sitting position of CBR150).

haha. i supposed sh.it does happen. so far have got 3 minor kissing incidents.

1. taxi door suddenly flew open when i was squeezing between cars along a totally jammed 1 lane road. lucky i braked in time and merely hit the edge of the door slightly. no damage done.

2. squeezing between slow moving cars during peak hour. this uncle rider decided to join in the squeezing w/o checking his mirror or blindspot. couldnt slow down enough for him to pass, ended up his handbar hit my rear box. no damage done.

3. squeezing between cars again on expressway during peak hour. bike in front suddenly braked and i followed. super4 behind me couldnt slow down enough and his front tyre bumped into mine. luckily again. no damage done.

do you know why is it that it seems like many people are selling X-1 for sparkz?

no offence to X1 riders. but the bike simply doesnt have enough power once it reaches 90kmph. im not the kind who enjoys thrashing the bike and throttle it to the max w/ the engine screaming away. hence there was a period of time when i was doing only 80kmph on the X1.

now w/ the CBR150, no problem with cruising at 90kmph. :)

judging from the comments on spark135 frm mechanics, seems like the extra 25 CC of engine capacity compared to X1 is rather significant. im not surprised if a spark135 can overtake our CBR150 easily even though we have a slight advantage in terms of CC.

:cheeky:

but seriously, spark135 is really like the taxi on the streets now. which IMO, makes it rather risky to own. u never know when u will get minor minor parts kena stolen when u leave yr bike in carpark. had my head fairing stolen during the time when i rode X1. frm then on decided to get a less popular bike. hehe. so in a sense, maybe i will start to get worried & concerned when our CBR150 gets too common on the road!

don.. i tink u tried almost all the common 2b bikes. should hav the most exp otr. should install alarm sys on ur bike now since cbr is getting more popular. but nobody will be stupid enough to steal our head fairing. i took quite long to remove it. haha...
