Hi, I apologise for being rather lagging and stuff. Been a little busy.

What about our air filter? How often do you have to change it? When I bought my bike I realised that it has NO air filter. Bought one cheap at Ah Boy. But now i feel that my fuel to air ratio seems a little wrong. Do you think that they are related? I was told that I probably should tune my bike again? What does tuning the bike really entails besides the air and idling timing? I hear that often but I get slightly differing views on it.

Sorry I am a total noob. Do have patience with me.

BTW, like Malik said, it is the fasting month and I have to see if I can make it or not. And most likely I have to call it an early night as well. I have NOT been having enough sleep man! On top of waking up for the morning pre-dawn meal... :giddy:

the CBR150 is a very low maintenance bike. except for EO and spark plug, air cleaner and filter, i don't hear much needed to be done with regard to tuning.

for example, just the last week my bike was having asthma problems. the rev meter was fluctuating, and i could not go abobe 100KmH 7000rpm, even with full throttle. some bikers i spoke to mentioned a dirty carburetor. i brought down to Lee Huat, and they checked the spark plug and air cleaner for me. both looked ok, but he suspected it was the air cleaner, so he did some general cleaning. even the guys at Everfit also suspected the air cleaner to be dirty. after a few days, the problem persisted and i was contemplating a carburetor wash, but did not like the idea of taking everything apart. in the end i decided to try a spark plug change. CR8E, 10 minutes and RM$13 later, my problem got solved! seemed that the old plug was a different model number, even though the externals looked ok, the internals might have been faulty.

what i'm trying to say is that we have a very simple machine. don't think the problem to be so far. sometimes it's something as simple as a hole in our air intake pipe that's causing our carburetor to be constantly dirty! (remember our Sri Lankan forumer had this problem?)

no air filter! heard from some of the motordiams:

Pros - bike will be more powerful coz got alot of air to mixed with fuel to enhance the combustions?

Cons - ur pistons will become more dirtier due to a large amt of impurities get burnt together with the fuel mixture onto the pistons.

p.s. correct me if i m wrong... :shades:

You have to adjust the air fuel misture nut in the carburator. If you don't know how to do it take it to a machanic. Its just a 10 minute job. The problem is before you had no air filter now you have air filter so the resistance to suck air has changed. So now the vacumn generated by the engine sucks less air than before. This could make your bike run a rich mixture. So what you have to do it reduce the fuel using the adjustment nut in the carburator.
