:D

i get ard 42km/litre cause i do a fair bit of riding on expressway.

:)

I also do a fair bit of expressway. And I don't drag gear, within 5.5k or 6k RPM i change gear.

And the fuel consumption is :cry::cry:

Don't think is NSR150SP lah ! No white smoke coming out from my exhaust ah..

Yeah I always calculate correctly. I store my mileage before I pumped fuel. Then I would do the following:

(Latest mileage - Previous mileage) / Total Litres pump this time = Fuel Consumption

And i check my bike, found that no where is leaking. Seeing that you all can get good fuel consumption, something must be wrong with my bike.

Harsh acceleration and constant open and close of throttle contribute to poor FC, so do under inflated tyres.

I don't throttle too harsh ah.. Always pump my tyres air whenever I go refuelling. :faint:

Second hand bike, especially get from shop, is very difficult to judge 1. Previous owner can be lacer. 1 obvious change he made is the end can. Others, like coil, CDI, carb, etc, might have been changed as well. All these can also contribute in lowering our FC.

Worst is the carb. Who knows he changed to SP carb Keihin E28 (if i rmbr the name correctly). So, I dont think there is much u can do about it, unless u want to spend money to change all those aftermarket parts to stock 1.

I might not be right. Just my opinion.

Ya he's got a point there... maybe carb set to high idling RPM or something... my own bike i'm the 5th rider in 5 years.... Every year this bike will change hands.... needless to say my piston and rings are gon-ded...

if u e'way more often, then all the more the FC should be better cos its constant speed and no stopping and moving off again!

david is right, those could be the reasons. why get a cbr if it is as thirsty as a sp? the reason for having a cbr is the good FC as the primary reason. if there is a chance in future, do open up and see whether there are really aftermarket parts changed to cause this effect of bad FC. i cant imagine how much extra u'll be spending throughout the entire course of ur ownership! poor thing!

Well... That's true guys. I suspect could be my high idling RPM because my idle RPM can reach 2K sometimes.

Btw, you all got any recommendation on where to go for full servicing?

Yeah. That's the reason. I intending to go for a full servicing and see how it goes. My carb is seriously in need of tuning.

My brother told me that, its not good for the bike if we change to higher gear too fast. It will affect the engine lifespan & when ur bike grows older your top speed will be lower than ur bike can actually reach.

eh? who say who buying a ducati?

yeap. we both love high revving 600cc machines.

Well... That's true guys. I suspect could be my high idling RPM because my idle RPM can reach 2K sometimes.

Ah lim, I always use 6th gear as fast as I could. I don't like to drag haha.

wah........ mine idling at 1.5k rpm.... why ur one so high? can adjust one......its on the right handside above the engine block. behind the clutch cable. i forgot its clockwise or counter-clockwise. trial and error should solve it.

oh btw i've read somewhere before that how efficient ur fuel consumption is doesnt depend on how fast u change gear, its how much throttle u open.

so even if u change up to 6th gear very fast, but ur speed is only 40km/h, you'll end up opening up more throttle and those who wash carb before will know... when u open throttle... fuel gets pumped out. turn the throttle more = more fuel being pumped out.

I can't adjust the idling RPM. Because my RPM during idling can fluctuate beween as low as 1.1K to and up to 2K.

I have tried adjusting the idling RPM lower, but my engine just stalled during a traffic light junction when I stop. So I don't know what could be the actual causes of it. It could be the engine is old.

During the outing, if I remb clearly, stanley idling RPM also fluctuate like what I am having. But not so sure whether he fix it.

By the way kenneth, where do you recommend me to go for full servicing in SG?

there's no fixed rpm to change gear. i normally change when my bike tells me to

Roughly around how many RPM would you change? Just curious
