Hello all,

I'll be collecting my bike this coming Tuesday, and going overseas from Thursday till Sunday.

Bike is brand new. and I heard from friends that it's recommended to start the bike daily or the battery might die and difficult to start up.

Any advices ?

Remove battery like most would suggest or get someone to ride it for 15mins or so once every 2-4 days. Yours brand new so doubt will have any problems though.

Some say just switching on your bike and not riding it won't really help. Lazy to explain why but it's like it wont really charge and at the same time your lights etc alr eating the battery.

Good luck.

Ride your bike on Wednesday for a longer distance if possible. The 4 days you are away is unlikely to drain the battery. Just cover the bike since its new, to avoid exposure to the weather.

Usually battery will drain if unused for prolonged period. More evident for bikes that come with built-in immobilisers (HISS etc).

thanks alot =)

my friend will be leaving his FZ16 for the same trip as well. Should he be worried about the battery being drained ?

any fix for that ?

I ~80% out of the country each yr of the time(work) & my bike is 14yo.

If out >2mths, will remove batt and connected to charger at home to maintain it.

If I'm more than 1mth away, I'll disconnect my ground cable on batt else my alarm system will drain the batt.

If only few days, I wouldn't bother to do anything.

No need to worry, just enjoy your trip.
