Yup.. Not really maroon.. It's copper with the green strips at the side fairing.. Bought it at $29k and it's a dec'10 registered bike.. Anyway this is my first touring bike.. U guys normally use fully or semi-synthetic EO???

Im using semi syn bro, maxima 10w-40.. There's alot of pple out there who wud b sceptical bout using semi syn but all e hype bout fully syn eo have made e price went up like crazy (depends on brand n shop, a fully syn can reach up to $28 per bottle)... Some pple wud say that the element in semi syn wud break dwn faster compared to fully syn but im not a 'chemical' person so whether true or not i dunno lolz !!! As long as e eo im using mt e requirement of e bike manual, im ok wit it.. Niwea, i'll c how "bad" e breakdwn of my eo have been in my nxt servicing n shall decide from there (btw e interval change for eostill remained @ 5000km or 3 mths whichever come 1st)... All i knw for now is at 11600km plus, e engine is still running smooth n im happy with it.. Appreciate e honesty of my mech for e advised given coz im used to b "like most pple" whom sceptical bout using semi syn eo n swear by fully syn eo frm e many yrs i started to own a bike n had contributed to e hike of fully syn eo price lolzz !!!..

Full syn are usually used for race bikes n high performance bikes that always hit high revs aka redline n i dun do that to my 'Akira' thus fully syn is unnecessary for me :) ..

Btw e above is just my personal opinion :)

Hello bros... I am planning for a Kopi session on sat 4th feb... Location wld be Bukit Indah for some ride as well as some makan.. The meet is open to all, however I am posting it on both the ZZR n GTR forum only. Hope to see as many bros as possible since the Kawa 1400 grp is small... If more ppl prefer local meet up than can change as well..

Location: Meet up GP Esso at 8.30pm

If you're riding a bike but not calculating the 50 possibilities in the 50 meters of road ahead of you, then you're dangerous and shouldnt be on one.

Honda : much smoother ride (engine) but lesser power than GTR. Parts easier to get (many times better). Nothing much to change for the STx(nothing available)

Kawa : better power, it's smooth but not as quiet and refine like a Honda. Agent sux big time!! Tons of after market parts to change depending on the depth of your pockets. And last most important thing.. I miss the oil tank of my STx (29l) which can cover a good 400+km! 1 tank to KL! This is very good when traveling up north when petrol station selling Ron 95> is far and few. Not forgetting its also almost the same price as sg petrol..

@ skateboy - I used to ride FZ1S '08 b4 i decided to change n got e R1150GSA in 2011.. After a yr of riding it i decided to change coz it doesn't suit me.. In Aug last yr im facing e dilemma of choosing betw FJR n GTR as such i asked for e opinion of e bros here.. As wat was spoken by e bros here, e agent sux big time but there's agent across e border which parts r avail for GTR.. Ive test rode e FJR but didnt have chance to try e GTR as such its diff for me to compare but eventually i decided to buy e GTR 2011 due to tech specs n ive never regret at all :) .. Ive rode it to Pattaya last Oct n ive really enjoyed it.. I used to feel 'jealous' of other sports tourer when i had my FZ1S coz when i rode to phuket, i dun have a proper panniers n was having just a small tank bag n e items that i cud bring was limited.. But now, having e GTR, ive got no worries at all.. There's plenty of room for my tools, luggage n i can afford to go shopping :) ..

After having e bike for a mth, i rode to Pattaya n thats where e bike was tested for its potential.. The ABS was activated few times to avoid a sure accident scenario ( in which 2 of it might be fatal)..KTRC was activated few times due to e sux up road conditions at certain part of thailand.. E suspension was excellent, meddle with it till u get e rite 'feeling'.. Power wise, a plenty though i nvr hit e top speed coz i left my balls at home lolz !!!... Daily when i rode e bike to n from werk, i always 'sigh' coz i havent got enuf of e ride n i've reach already reach my destination.. There's many times whereby after i reach e carpark of my house, i decide to go out again n ride :) ..

The only dwnside of tis bike is dat u dunno dat ur gg fast n dat u must get use to it :) .. FC wise is much better than e FZ1S..

There's no comparison between the FZ and GTR. End of the day it's like comparing apple and orange. Of course when you decide to buy the bike FC will not be put into consideration especially riding up north. The GTR is so confortable and stable at high speed sometimes you will not notice you are way above the speed limit. Personal experience I didn't even know I've touched 200km/h thought I was still cruising.

For maintenance wise engine oil 4.7l with oil filter change. Petrol tank 22l (if you cruise at legal speed should be able to get you to KL in 1 tank). It's shaft driven just need to do shaft oil change with the engine oil change. 4 spark plugs. But changing sparkies will be a little troublesome need to remove lots of fairing. Front brakes 8 small pieces pads. Using after market eats the disks, I stick to the original. The agent sucks big time. But for spares I will usually order online.

End of the day riding the GTR is a joy. Cheers.

the dilemma i'm having now is bcos my FZ1S is equipped with topcase n panniers for long distance ride. taller wind screen, aftermarket rear shock, balanced with the front fork for improved handling. n of cos with little gadgets to make the ride more pleasant. the FC for my ride now is ranging frm 18 to 20 km/l. to my understanding GTR have fc of ard 15 to 17km/l for local rides.

i've more or less decided to get the GTR for my next bike change cos base on price n specs, GTR is offering better deals for riders. some of my concern is weight of bike, heat issue though kawasaki claimed to had solved it, maintenance to b more costly as compared to my current bike. n worse of all, i might end up riding the GTR locally more than going up north.

i'm certainly impressed by the technologies that kawasaki had thrown in to the bike n with people experiencing it in real case scenarios.

well, one is under sports touring n another is under street. FC is not the consideration for riding up north but for local riding, its one of the criteria. its a matter of how bad the fc was. cos i might end up riding the C14 locally most of the time n pumping of petrol locally most of the time too! just like wat i'm doing now with my fazer. no doubt about the comfort, speed n stability as i always listen to my friend telling me how good the GTR was.

its almost 5 litres for doing oil change! wow!! maintenance is definitely higher for tourers...

Bro if e above r ur concern than i suggest u stick to ur current ride coz there's nothing much to help u :)... Btw there's big difference in listening to frens telling u hw good is e bike n experience to ride n own 1 :) .. I for sure didnt regret it even though i spent most of my time riding Akira locally coz i enjoyed every single km i put on her :)

N btw no bike is a perfect bike, if its perfect than i tink there wnt b any business liaoz lolz !!! When I consider to get a bike sometime in Aug, i was considering betw GTR n FJR n did ask for opinion from e bros from both forum n on top of that checked e review on both bikes.. After much consideration, i decided on e GTR coz of newer technology n e look can last few years b4 a new design comes out (i hope so based on their zg1000 which have been around for quite sometime b4 zg14 was introduced)..

For my tis ride, i will try my very best to kp it as stock as possible coz i believe if e machine is good then shud juz leave it as it is coz my pocket is not deep enuf lah.. Lolzz !!!

Frankly if you want to just ride the bike locally would suggest you keep you present bike, since you have all the panniers.

FC concern is personal. It's the twist of the right trottle, I've ever clock 20km/l on NSHW riding legal speed. Kawasaki is a nice bike to ride due to the technology put in as compared to the other Japanese tourers.
