Frankly if you want to just ride the bike locally would suggest you keep you present bike, since you have all the panniers.

FC concern is personal. It's the twist of the right trottle, I've ever clock 20km/l on NSHW riding legal speed. Kawasaki is a nice bike to ride due to the technology put in as compared to the other Japanese tourers.

Totally Agree !!!

For me i love the 6th gear (OD), some pple dun like it coz its slow when u want to sudden accelarate e bike but who cares, i dun care coz dats e purpose when bought e bike ie to have a smooth cruising feeling.. But when stick to 5th gear, dats where I tell Akira - " Now is Playing Time" lolzzz !!!

I never test Akira's top speed but my guts feeling is telling me that i wnt b able to reach e top speed with e 6th gear.. How bout e bros here, any experience to share ? :)

Bro if e above r ur concern than i suggest u stick to ur current ride coz there's nothing much to help u :)... Btw there's big difference in listening to frens telling u hw good is e bike n experience to ride n own 1 :) .. I for sure didnt regret it even though i spent most of my time riding Akira locally coz i enjoyed every single km i put on her :)

ultimately, decision is still up to oneself. others can only advise n input the details that i would like to know about the bike. as for experiencing the bike, no way i can ride others' as i fear i cannot handle the bike well. another way is to change to experience but i do not want to make a harsh decision as the bike dun come cheap.

N btw no bike is a perfect bike, if its perfect than i tink there wnt b any business liaoz lolz !!! When I consider to get a bike sometime in Aug, i was considering betw GTR n FJR n did ask for opinion from e bros from both forum n on top of that checked e review on both bikes.. After much consideration, i decided on e GTR coz of newer technology n e look can last few years b4 a new design comes out (i hope so based on their zg1000 which have been around for quite sometime b4 zg14 was introduced)..

For my tis ride, i will try my very best to kp it as stock as possible coz i believe if e machine is good then shud juz leave it as it is coz my pocket is not deep enuf lah.. Lolzz !!!

yes. no bike is perfect. i totally agree with that. to each of its own i would say. me too, did the comparison between GTR, FJR, STX n K1300GT. i will still choose GTR due to the specs n the price. :D

Bro wat sort of dilemma r u facing ? I didnt c any cause of dilemma there, all i can c is u telling us how well equip is ur fz1s lolzzz.. Wat actually issit that u want bro ? :)

the dilemma is to change or not to change. :) well, i do not wanna flaunt the fz1 here. i input the details is purely for comparison of the 2 bikes, the consideration that i might have if i wanna change. there's nothing to compare for the GTR n FZ1. power n comfort is already a super plus point for the GTR.

mayb its just a matter of wanna change anot. normally, when a bike is so call fully accessorize, its time to change. mayb i just fall into this catagory? :p

anyway, i really appreciate all inputs frm u all. if there r more to input, of cos i'm more than happy to read thru to help me decide when to buy the bike.

i do wanna go up for rides but due to work n family commitment, i cannot say wanna go, i can go. that is y i say i might end up riding locally most of the time. if i can go for a trip once a mth, i'm more than happy. :)

i think for FC wise, really depends on individual. i guess i really have to cast that aside when i wanna change to the GTR as i dunno wat kinda of rider i will become. :D

That's if you talk about 6th gear on low speed. To me it's no difference in pulling power when at high speed. In fact I find it easier to pull on 6th gear after 4k rpm.

But nothing beats pulling to redline on 2nd gear. Try it, it's fun.

GTR is more for open roads and highway traveling. I hate to ride Shenton way peak hour traffic.

For myself when I choose I would firstly consider how deep is my pocket. The BMW already out for me when cost concern. I didn't see any new bikes in the PML show room.

I narrowed down to the big 3 Japanese. If you want a smooth comfortable and predictable ride STX is way to go. I would think it's more than a gentleman's bike.

If you want a sportier riding position then the FJR will be good. But frankly the finishing of the Yammie is nothing to shout about.if you put the 3 bikes together you will know what I mean. (Personally I don't like the sales person from hl. He only entertain people wearing lolex)

If you want raw power, comfortable and even more sportier position then GTR will be good. But if you can leave with arrogant and farkled up agent then go for it.

Personally if I were in your position I would just keep the FZ1 and wait till I'm more or less stable then commit. As riding a 1400cc in Singapore doesn't do justice to your pocket dont forget you road tax and insurance. It's not cheap, for road tax you pay about $400+++ a year and insurance will varies with age.

The above is just my personal opinion. Cheers

Yes bro! Tried it last Saturday at NS Highway to Kulai.. :) I normally drive to work and will ride my bike on weekends only.. Purpose of getting this bike is to go tour further destinations in future.. My Kakis will be planning a 2week trip to Mae Hong Son in 2013.. I went Phuket with my VTR and that was the last straw to convince me to change my ride..

There was a miscalculation for my insurance.. It costs me $1338 3rd party with fire and theft before my 20% NCD.. :) so it costs me only $1070

i share the same tots as u do. all the 3 jap tourers have price ranging 30k n above. i find the GTR with the most function n looks aggressive. though its a few k more ex then the STX n FJR. the kawa agent is a well known cannot make it agent. but malaysia got agent for kawa so still not that bad. just have to take the trouble to go up b4 anything happens to the bike.

indeed i will do injustice to the GTR if i ride it locally most of the time, or keep it in the carpark n ride a katak. but the consideration to sell off my fz1 is i can fetch a higher selling price now compared to 2 years later. hence i will have to top up more cash for the bike. i do hope by that time, GTR got more functions!!

Once lah danger bro, kena once, shiok, confirm another once, until lost count of e "once" lolzzz...

Lol I only did that when the bike full warmed up, when also there's a need to clear the carbon. Anyway no danger for this bike, the strut arm on the shaft is designed to counter some force or something like that.
