Lol bro u gt stranded at nshw that time u went to kulia right.that was like how many years ago when I was still riding my Fjr .. Do u knw that me and another rider when back to look for u while the wan who lead wanted to smoke one more stick before going back for you.. But by the time I make a u-turn u were no longer at there than we headed back to the petrol station and saw u at there very angry lol..

 

Haha of coz i rmbr u bro .. U know y i was so angry ? Coz e reason given to me was that they(cnt rmbr who exactly) tot i stopped to ans phone call lolz !!! Who in e correct state of mind wud stopped to ans phone call in the darkness ? N at speed of 260km/hr i cudnt even hear my hp ringing or vibrate lolz !!! Well that was in e past whereby i was very e loud n clear n dats VERY BAD lolzzz !!!

 

Btw thanks for coming back for me bro nonetheless its a lesson learnt, at e end of e day its nobody's fault but mine ... A valuable lesson learned n passed dwn to fellow riders, cheers

wat happened to ur fz1? care to share?

 

I dun mind sharing briefly bro.. My fz1s engine was souped up n tuned for fast pick up, armed with variable stacks n "magic" gadget (not PC or wateva brand there is in e market), makes it torquey yet under control.. Bcoz i enjoyed too much dat my right wrist always on e "auto" mode whenever there's a chance to "play" lolz.. Until one day, whilst playing, e engine rattled n went "dead" .. After a while, managed to start it but e engine rattling was horrendous that e bike cnt b ridden at all...

 

I was fortunate coz i had a guru whom helped to check n repair e engine.. He operated on e engine n "cut" it open n thats where we found out that e crankshaft was burnt, it was due to e con rod bearing that had - i shall say totally shattered !!! Bought used parts from ebay n engine was rebuild n "blueprinted" from scratched ... Have to unwillingly let go my Fazera coz there's other problem that had started to arised..

 

Just a piece of advise, while its great to mod ur ride to gain more pwr etc but have to b prepared to pay for e frequent wear n tear .. That's y now i prefer Akira to b as stock as possible coz been there done that n with Akira, i dun nd to prove anything to anyone, i juz wanna enjoy her

Lol I only did that when the bike full warmed up, when also there's a need to clear the carbon. Anyway no danger for this bike, the strut arm on the shaft is designed to counter some force or something like that.

i share the same tots as u do. all the 3 jap tourers have price ranging 30k n above. i find the GTR with the most function n looks aggressive. though its a few k more ex then the STX n FJR. the kawa agent is a well known cannot make it agent. but malaysia got agent for kawa so still not that bad. just have to take the trouble to go up b4 anything happens to the bike.

 

indeed i will do injustice to the GTR if i ride it locally most of the time, or keep it in the carpark n ride a katak. but the consideration to sell off my fz1 is i can fetch a higher selling price now compared to 2 years later. hence i will have to top up more cash for the bike. i do hope by that time, GTR got more functions!!

 

Fyi bro, im riding my GTR daily in sg n e last time i went touring is Oct last yr to Pattaya.. Did i feel that im doing injustice to my GTR ? Nope .. I'll do injustice to her if i only ride her once in a while n keep her covered most of e time .. At tis moment, ive covered 12000km on e bike n its only coming to 5 mths old.. To me, more km i put into e bike, e better i know her n wat she's capable/incapable of ..

 

N for function wise, im contented with wat it has now n both e ABS n KTRC had done its job well during my ride to Pattaya.. If not coz of Gods willing n e effectiveness of Akira, i wud not have e chance to live now ... That's y i recommend my buddies to get GTR if they tot of getting a sports tourer

 

My opinion is dun let e tots of "wat if in couple years Kawa gonna "revamp" e GTR n add more n better features to it ? Then i wud regret then" - coz i wnt knw whether i wud even b alive tmrw

woah... the bearing shell was gone! wonder how that will happen. but i guess that is somehow a blessing in disguise that u bought the GTR n enjoying it.

frankly, the function on the GTR is so far, none of the other bikes that i know of have these functionalities. of cos, if there r more functions that they can add in, it will b years later. for now, the current bike is going to stay stagnant for 3 years b4 any upgrades will surface.

@ Skateboy - The con rod bearing is not like those wat we understand of "normal bearing".. There's no shell, no balls, its called paper bearing, like a strip of metal.. A comparison of e fz1s bearing to R1 98 , for Fz1s it cost $6.50 whereas e R1 98 is $16 (around there but i know its above $10).. With e vast diff in price, i can only tink that e quality for Fz1s suckz.. Btw i didnt change to GTR immediately after Fz1 but got e BMW 1150 GSA.. Rode for a year n decided to change coz after tested for a ride to Ulu Yam, e bike doesnt suit me.. Its "rider's problem" thingy, hence e birth of Akira lolz..

 

Btw bro, im not orang kaya n of coz $$ is one of e issue tonsider when getting a bike, juz that dun allow wateva u read about e bike from e owners (especially e negative feedbacks/problems) affects u coz at times (to me most of e time) its partly owner's fault that the bike got problem.. Ride it stock n u will c bike got problem or not ..

 

Juz to quote an example, when i got my bike, ive read so many negative feedbacks about e stock tires.. Some say tis tires cannot make it, square off very fast, no cofident in cornering.. Having read e neg feedbacks, i tot "siow liao, like that how to ride to Pattaya, confirm cannot make it" .. Niwae i juz decide use it n check out myself, to my surprise, it did its job well... N with 12000km, e tires didn't square off as what being claimed, in fact its still round n there's plenty of thread left.. Secret to it ? No secret, i pumped e tires weekly n use a proper tire pressure..

Projektd selling e headlight protector at US $59 = S$75 (at e exchange rate of 1.27 at that time) excluding shipping.. I cant add in e shipping cost as i bought 2 items from them , e protector n bigfoot n e shipping cost me US $33.80 for both items..

Bros, if u have not "play" with e rear shoch absorber for long, my advise is try to do it n chck if e preload damper located on e left side of e passenger foot peg can be easily turn or not coz i "neglected" mine after e last set up i made few mths ago n when i want to turn it, very e hard arr.. After some "magic" now its back to normal

i know wat u mean. no worries. its the technical term of bearing , but not the bearing like we used to c on the wheels or steering cone. the way u describe, i'm abit worried for my bike as well.

 

stock is always the best. but no matter wat, most of us can't keep it so stock. as far as i'm concern, reading about all those is one thing, but putting them into my bike is another. i dun like the hassle of doing this n that. hence i will b mindful esp dealing with engine performance stuffs. unless i know wat is that little gadget about, if not, just dun touch is better. n only occasionally then whack the engine. whack too much, no good. dun whack oso no good.

 

hahaha... feedbacks is always feedbacks until u tried it personally. proper maintenance is the key to every bike's well being.

 

anyway, after much calculation, i guess my finance is abit tight hence wun b getting the GTR any time soon. just hope that my pockets can b eased up n by then get the GTR.
