When I read all the Concours 14 guys that did it in the US, they all say it is greatly productive...interesting...

US ZZR guys swear that after removing the flies, TRE improves things even more....

I don't really trust US bikers' comments, except respected tuners. How about the European riders?

flies = cat converter?

Nope. Our bike's throttle body has two butterfly valves to control airflow. One controlled by our right hand, another computer controlled (Secondary butterfly valves, or flies).

At lower RPMs, this secondary flies stay almost closed, like 90% closed up to 4000rpms. This is to prevent noobs from scaring themselves silly, and to get the bike to run smoother.

First generation ZX14s have too much of this restriction, 1st gear is restricted up to 6000rpms. 08 models onwards are very much improved, so noneed to remove the flies.

Find below PM from a US guy, apparently 80% of the US GTR owners took the flies out...apparently that is one of the reasons that GTRs are running rich on low RPMs.

Ok, I installed the PCV last night and need to revise my original statement above. I think the GIPro probably gives closer to 50 to 75% (subjective impressions) of the "missing" power. With the flies out and the PCV I now have all the power + MORE than I will ever need. I noticed too that my indicated "average" fuel mileage was climbing on the way in to work this morning. Grin I filled up near the house and will calculate manually for a true ampg. I cannot help but wonder what that increase in mileage will equate to in saved $ over the life of the bike?? Even if I were not going for the additional power with pulling flies & PCV, the increased mileage should make it worth the investment all on it's own. A thank you to Fred for the GIPro which will be finding a new home soon. Perhaps eventually this GIPro will find it's way around the country like the windshields for tryout? Cheesy

One thing is for sure, with the flies out the bike's response will be more snappy. Also, the bike will bog down if too much throttle is applied, like Flatslide carbs.

But, we're all experienced riders, no worries! This mod is easily reversed, so no harm trying.

Does anyone know any malaysian C14 forum? Care to share the link please?

If budget permits i plan to get a C14 to shuttle myself up and down KL weekly as I am relocating there to work. Does anyone knows if there is any pro workshop that service this beauty? Many thanks....;)

feels like giving my bike a 1st yr bday present..

any estimates on the cost of PC V + files out

+ a respectable full exhuast system ( with the fierce hayabusa sound? )

+ maybe a new coating of paint?

PC V would cost around $600-$700 I guess, with Dyno tune. Flies out you can do it yourself, or costs around $40 labour.

You don't need a full system, just a slip on. I believe someone has an Akraprovic lying around. 'hint hint'

hi anyone know when will the next shipment will be in??and have u guys guys read about the 2010 gtr ?below is wat i have copy ..

According to a report on Gizmag, Kawasaki are all set to deploy a host of new technologies on the 2010 model 1400GTR. The current model already gets bits like variable valve timing, keyless ignition, tyre pressure sensors and ABS, but the next year’s bike could push things to a whole new level, with night vision and head-up display (HUD) technologies.

Taking their cues from some of the more expensive cars around, Kawasaki are said to have developed infrared night vision technology, which will let riders see beyond what a bike’s conventional headlamps can illuminate. The system works via a pair of infrared cameras mounted on the bike, which work together with the bike’s onboard computer. If these cameras ‘see’ anything (which may be beyond the headlamp’s illumination range and which the rider may not be able to see…) in the bike’s path, the system will issue audio/visual alerts to warn the rider. The cameras can ‘see’ objects that are 300m or even further ahead, in the dark, so these could be a very useful safety feature on a high speed motorcycle…

Another high-tech feature that Kawasaki are working on is a head-up display system, which would project information like the bike’s speed and revs right in front of the rider’s eyes. The system will probably work in accordance with a purpose-built helmet, which would allow this information to be projected ahead of the visor, so the rider doesn’t have to look down at the instrument cluster to access vital information. These technologies are already reasonably commonplace on mainstream cars, so a 1400GTR with these high-tech bits may not actually be as far fetched as it sounds. Now let’s just wait and see what Kawasaki actually unveil at bike shows in Paris and Milan later this

Not true, 22 ZZR and 31 GTR in Singapore as of May 2009. Don't know when is the next shipment coming in but it will take some time as Kawa has stopped production until end of July.

Hi. Newbie here.

Anyone knows how much does a GTR sidebox cost?

The pannier drop in the mid of expressway. Fortunately, no accident happened behind. Think I will be fine heavily if TP is around.. Blessing in disguise.

Original new ones are approx. 2000 SGD each. Ouch, expensive mistake!!
