Hi guys,

My fren and i were thinking of a short trip on Ntl Day to Endau Rompin National Park in Johor.

Exit at Ayer Hitam then abt 2 hrs on bike thru plantation and track road.

Riding speed is about 90-100, so 2B bikes are also welcome.

Trip will be cancelled if there are less than 8 bikes.

Gunung Ledang @ Mt Ophir is an alternative.

Rough itenary is :

Bf is JB

Ride up to Destination

Trek to Waterfalls

Chill out @ Swim and Dive

Trek back

Stop by Ayer Hitam for souvenier

Ride back to JB

Bike wash and dinner

(subject to changes)

Some info shared by a fellow biker - Loudexhaust.

Pics can be seen on his Blog.

It is very easy to get to Mount Ophir.

My blog contains the instructions to get there.

http://loudexhaust.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

From my blog:

"North-South highway until exit at Tangkat exit.

At the T-junction of Tangkat exit, take the right turn.

Ride straight and you will end up in Tangkat town.

From Tangkat town, take Route 23.

After a while, you will see a big big sign that says G Ledang.

Then turn left and exit Route 23. Ride straight and you will end up at the foot of Mt Ophir."

Alternate resources are:

A very simple map:

http://www.mynetbizz.com/pages/gunun...gledangmap.cfm

Information on the Gunang Ledang Resort:

http://www.ledang.com/resort.htm

http://www.mynetbizz.com/pages/gunun...nungledang.cfm

Obtained the above by googling Gunang Ledang Resort. I think it is the only resort at Mount Ophir.

The range from PG to Tangkak is 150 to 200km.

If you do not have any waves or scooters (they need fuel stops at 100km), then you can hit Tangkak without any refueling. Tangkak has a petrol kiosk.

If you stay at the Mt Ophir resort, there is a big carpark lot directly in front of the reception. It is safe for you to park your bike there. To double-check on security of your bike with the hotel conceirge.

On places to visit around there...

Go for dip at the mount ophir stream.

I strongly advise do bring shorts/swimming trunks.

Many riders find it troublesome to change. My advise is to go do the dip there.

You can track up Mt Ophir if you have the time.

You can ride out to look-see look-see Tangkak town.

There is a famous beef noodle store. Just ask the locals where. Tangkak is a small town. Spend 1 hour walking around this nostalegic town.

Return route, you can take the longer trunk route that is more fun to play and corner with your bikes.

From my blog:

Our return trip consists of some trunk road busting action:

Back track and turn left into Route 23.

From Route 23, turn right into J34.

From J34, turn right into the familiar previously written J32 (except now opposite direction).

J32 until Pagoh entrance into NorthSouth. Then NorthSouth back to Singapore."

My only other advise is that you are going to ride on 9 August which is a very popular public holiday. So do:

- Call up the hotel and book in advanced. Otherwise you may have no rooms (I know even Genting is out of rooms for that period). See the resort website for phone number.

- Plan for extra time for congestion at the customs.

- On festive periods, NorthSouth highway register increased in traffic accidents. So when riding on the normally placid NorthSouth road, try to avoid going above 150 kmh as it will be hard to stop in time when suddenly see a pile up or cars in front jam braking.

- All bikers to bring full rain gear: top and bottom pieces. It may be sunny in singapore and have heavy rain at tangkak.
