interesting question... assuming yrs is a singapore registered bike, you can remove or decommission yr IU at IU inspection sites. then you should get charged fixed ERP rate which is $5/day. but if you unplugged it or something, i presume it's the ERP charge and an administrative fee of $10...

Fixed ERP scheme is only for foreign vehicles.

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

$70 fine if pass gantry without IU

You sure? It's just the same "Fine" as with not having a Cash Card in the IU for Singapore Registered Vehicle.

To Me....

It's not How fast you go... It's how FAR you Travel...:thumb:

It's the Rider! Not the Bike! o_O

I heard going through ERP with a cashcard with insufficient value carries a fine of $70 while going through without a cash card at ll is a fine of $10 ($8 if paid online) plus the ERP charge, is the former true cos i know for a fact the latter is. (cos i always forget to put in my cashcard hahaha)

This is from LTA website itself:

From 1 June 1999, motorists who pass through an operational Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) gantry without a properly inserted CashCard in the in-vehicle unit (IU), or with a CashCard with insufficient balance to pay for the ERP charges, will receive a letter requesting them to pay the outstanding ERP charge plus an administrative charge of $10, within two weeks of the violation.

Motorists are advised that if the administrative charge and the ERP charge are not paid within this period, they will receive a Notice of Traffic Offence offering to compound the offence for $70 payable within 28 days. Upon expiry of the Notice, the matter will be referred to the Court.

The composition fine for passing through an ERP gantry without an IU will remain at $70.

Therefore, no cashcard or cashcard not enough money is the same fine of $10 plus ERP.

the different one is if no IU at all, thats the one that is $70.

note though that this all depends on the ERP system. meaning, where the systems detects and connects to your IU, it will immediately know if no cashcard or cashcard not enough value, either of which gets you the $10 letter.

But if the system completely does not detect any IU, including in instances where IU is fixed but cannot be detected such as in helmet compartment, the system immediately takes it as no IU installed. $70 letter arrives.

I once had a case where my IU was detected but a conenction could not be made. a letter arrived telling me to send of inspection. it was cleared at inspection, no fine.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!
