suspicious ads for bikes

Hi everyone,

I have been combing this forum to find my ideal cruiser and have noticed several ads where the superb bikes are for sale unusual cheaply. Further I noticed all those ads have a photo taken in US and not here and there is no phone or contact but have to email through the forum.

This reminds me of the widely common scams out there on selling puppies online.

Has anyone else noticed them or written to them before?

Finally someone noticed it and voiced it out.

Here we go again. Beware of the below advertisements in Bikemart:

I tested twice and the seller will say almost exactly the same story. First, the seller will say the bike was sold but they have another one for you. Because of relocation, all his bikes were brought to Denmark (maybe the seller will use another country this time) but cannot register there. So they will sell them cheap cheap. They will even present the bike right in front of you and if you decide not to buy, it's ok. Once, the seller told me the bike was in Denmark but I found it in Singapore!

It will be best if you can try to contact the seller yourself and see if you have the same story as mine.

I've informed a senior moderator but no reply yet.

Ya, and probably ask you to pay for something first etc etc.

This is just annoying. The first 3 pages of any search for cruisers will return these scams. (their characteristic is that they don't have any contact and price is super low).

I wish the administrator could at least delete these posts or simply require a valid and direct email or phone number upon putting up the ads.

Hi Sun,

You are right. they came back with the same story without saying which country. Then I asked oh btw, are you located in Denmark? And no reply since :-)

Hi ddd,

In my first testing case, I asked until the fellow cannot take it and he showed frustrations in his replies. When I showed him the pictures of the bike in a Singapore workshop, which he claimed the bike to be in Denmark, he never reply anymore.

In my second testing case, he replied with exactly same story. Seems like they use only one template. I told him I am going to Denmark and give me the address to view the bike, he never reply anymore.

It is funny. The used bike page is swarmed by these scams and it seems they can post their nonsense without any problem, yet this forum's admin asked for my IC if I want to post a bike.

It doesn't sound right......

If we have alerted the admin or moderator and they didn't do anything, there's nothing we can do. They are putting more and more Harley advertisements now.

Just hope there is no victim.
