well just let this be a warning to all of us. never assume that everything is settle until you see the black and white. why the shop did inform you earlier? coz they can only sue you for bankruptcy when amount hit $10k. correct me if I'm wrong.

If everyone believes karma really works, then we can close down the courts, and all magistrates & judges can go wash bikes in prisons converted to garages, and race tracks.

We have no guarantee that Karma really works. It is just something that we use to fall back on when the courts, and all magistrates & judges passed sentences that we feel are not justified to the crimes committed. When our bike parts and bikes are stolen with no way of tracking the thieves. So we use Karma to feel a tad better. In this guy's case, he extorted money and got jailed for his crime. However what goes around, comes around... :)

Yes, this guy did crime but he served his time in jail. What more does he deserve? He said he wanted to start new. Give him a chance. I think all of us deserves it at one point of time. Don't need some greed take advantage of this.

So will there be a gathering in front of the shop? I'll call in the reporters ...

Amounts owing under $10k may not be enforceable for bankruptcy. If the rider owes the bike shop $15k, this implies that the bike shop has already figured out that the sale of the bike is less than $5k. As such, selling off the bike will not set the amount owed to below $10k. So the rider can still be made a bankrupt. Even if the rider can manage to sell the bike above $5k, it still does not stop the bike shop to come back with another bill to justify for more charges that will set the amount owe to above $10k. That being the case, maybe the rider should just resign himself to fate and declare himself a bankrupt.

i feel that if the bikeshop thinks that the owner wans to leave the bike at his shop but than think twice will a owner of aprilla put his bike at the bikeshop for FOUR years and the shop didn;t notice the owner to pay up the instalments during the four years.

SO if they didn't notice the owner isn't it means that the bikeshop know that the owner wan to sell his bike?

I feel that there is alot of loophole from the article

just a comment =)
