Hi guys, i just started my 1.01 last week and failed badly. My braking was not good and i couldn't even move off. When i move off my bike always wobble and the fall.

I was the only person to fail 1.01 that day and it was really damn disheartening. But i am determined to pass and get a 2b license so i am going back this week.

I just wanna ask is it possible that i naturally just have very bad balancing? And am i supposed to use the rear brake when im practing braking at the tyre wall?

Thanks, much appreciated.

i have the same problem as well.

1st u need to determine where you wanna stop, then brake gradually upon reaching your destination.

lack of speed will cause it to wobble, but clutch-play plays an important factor as well-coordination is the key too.

good luck :thumb:

What does clutch-play mean? Is it I never release my clutch far enough?

I'm actually not so afraid to fall but after watching me fall 2-3 times my instructor removed me from the circuit and asked me practice on braking instead of moving off instead :/

must co-ordinate with your right wrist, so u will need to twist turn to get everything going smootly, but diff bikes have diff clutch point(forget the actual name)

I failed 1.03 3 times

even stop for more than 6 mths in between but still went back to complete it :D

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

To counter wobble, relax your shoulders and hands. Dont grip the handles tighly.

Most importantly feel the force. All the best 👍😁

i just passed 1.01 a few days back. Maybe you did not throttle enough? just throttle, but ur clutch has to be monitored. i wobbled but when i throttled more i did not have issues.

Practice n more practice...riding anythings 2 wheel is like mastering your centre of gravity (Cg) and of course, your coordination with your brake and clutch. Riding a bicycle is good n easy ways out of the riding circuit to practice.

I had the same problem. Wobble is due to looking down... solution is to look up and far..... if u r referring to moving off in 1st gear and braking in 1st gear... at 1st gear... use your rear brake instead of front brakes... I had this problem of trying to throttle n yet prepare to reach for front brake

Clutch play means u don't release the left lever immediately. The half clutch technique helps to control the power transmitted from the engine to the tyres.

Simple illustration, if u rev to 3000rpm but hold the clutch... Will the bike move? No. Now slowly release (and i mean REALLY Slow) the clutch while holding your 3000rpm. Release the clutch until you feel the bike trying to move forward and the rpm dropping slightly. And yes you got your "biting" point. This is the most important for all your basics. If u get this you will have a lot less problem.

Next. Brakes. Front brakes are very effective at slow speed... If you SNATCH at it. Your bike will jerk and you will fall. Apply the brakes GRADUALLY once it's slowing down apply slight more pressure. I used to use my rear brakes more than front brakes once I got used to using my right leg for braking. It is more stable... If u cycle, which brakes won't cause u to lose control of u bicycle? The rear right? U can skid and still remain in control. But it takes quite a bit to fish tail the bike so no worries.

Hope this helps.

Have fun!

Don't worry! When I first took my 1.01 with 4 other guys 3 months back (I was the only girl!) all the guys went to the mini circuit while I'm stuck moving forward 1 metre towards the wall then paddling back before repeating everything again LOL. I felt so disheartened when everyone passed except me but I mustered up the courage to book my retake of 1.01! Don't give up, it will all get better :)

Wobbling is always normal when anyone first starts learning how to ride a motorcycle. I had my fair share of falls during my 2B learning days.

The good news is that you will get through it and master it. Years later, you will look back with fondness and remembering the struggles you are going through now & happy at what you have accomplished.

Good luck and press on! :clapping:

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

You're just starting out. Don't take the training negatively. It's normal becoz you're not used to the bike yet. You'll find yourself improving after 2 to 3 lessons. For stopping, braking, throttle a bit before you release clutch. Your bike will not stall. Then let go clutch slowly. You'll get used to the biting point. For braking, use your front brakes softly to prevent hard braking. Makes your bike unstable. Use your rear brakes more to brake so that your bike won't jerk. Good luck!
