Hi guys, I'm considering one of these new models. Seems like dual purpose bikes are getting very popular, can tour with 2, side panniers and some dirt roads plus convenient daily commuting.

These are the 2014/2015 new jap models that caught my attention.

1) 2015 Honda VFR800X Crossrunner

Just curious, have you not considered other bikes like.....Honda NC750X, BMW GS1200, BMW GS 800, BMW GS 650, KTM 1190 adventure and 1190r adventure? The mentioned 5 are also dual purpose bikes as well. If I have the money, I would consider 1 of BMW GS series.

I considering these 3 bike as BMWs and KTMs are above my budget, while the NC750 doesn't attract me due to its low Bhp and its more to road oriented.

These 3 jap bikes are around the $27K - $30K and they offer a reasonable Bhp and torque. They also come in integrated side panniers and matching top box.

So which will u consider?

None of the above.

I would prefer a Super Tenere. I have tried Tiger (didn't like the posture), V-Strom (feels too bulky), African Twin (too high), Stelvio (too much vibration, very rough at low speeds), and Super Tenere. This one I like.

Honda CG145, Honda CB150R ExMotion. And a few others in between...

For me, if comparing purely on specs, I would go for 2015 Honda VFR800X Crossrunner, though lower top speed as compared to 2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000 but with its stronger torque and Honda Selectable Torque Control System, it gives a overall smoother engine purr and performance, I rmb reading somewhere about the 90-degree V-4 that gives the engine "perfect" primary balance, this in turn helped in minimizing engine vibration problems. In terms of looks, the honda also gives a compact but sharp outlook. Kawasaki do not lag much behind, but it is the addition technology involved in the crossrunner that catches me.

VFR800X Crossrunner have juz arrived at Looi's motor.

Got a close look at it and riding position is nice wif wide handles bars and feels light.

Still haven see the new 2015 Versys yet.

I tired the 2014 V-strom, it does feels abit heavy.

Wow, nice, the look on 2015's crosstourer has changed significantly as compared to the previous version. Gotta be honest, it does look a bit different from the link you posted, might be the accessories shown in the link that makes it look different. The bike's length is a bit shorter, front fork seems to have been jacked up slightly higher, there is a belly pan now and the handlebar is indeed wide from the photos you took, only thing you might wanna consider if you are intending to purchase this bike will be to purchase a front mudguard extender and a radiator guard, the stock front mudguard looks short.

But all in all, it is still a beautiful piece of art.

Hi TS,

I see you have picked 3 bikes with 2 different engine config. To help you a bit, try to understand what kind of engine configuration that will suit your need/want.

Versys has a inline 4 engine - smooth liner power curve.

Vstorm has a V twin engine - usually high torque at lower rpms, some quite abdrupt.

VFR800X has a V4 engine - quite a in between those 2.

Hoped it helps.
