i have been failing my first 2b practical really badly

this lesson i finally got to ride around the mini circuit but i coundnt even ride it in a straight line without wobbling even though both my feet are already on the ground

throughout the whole lesson i was like some drunk snake around the circuit  left right left wobble stop and kept going into other lanes

friends around me are all telling me that bike is not suitable for me, i should just quit, learn class 3 instead etc..in fact no one is supportive of my decision

when i enrolled, i already know that i will probably be one of the few slow learners but today's lesson really made me realise how far and impossible i really am

Ok... watch out for those in CAP. key points. Remember them and put them to use the next lesson and i'm sure you will enjoy your lesson more... i learnt it through the hard way of failing too :) all of us did.

1. HALF CLUTCH - The term is hard to understand but SLOWLY release your clutch without turning your throttle up. FEEL the point where it starts to MOVE the bike forward. That's call the BITING Point. Now release it by prob a little bit more (maybe 1-2mm) and

2. In HALF CLUTCH mode, your THROTTLE will not be that RESPONSIVE in Gear 1. This will eliminate your JERKING/RIDING A CAMEL feeling.

HOLD IT THERE. Thats HALF Clutch.

3. LOOK AHEAD. Don't look at your handle bar, don't look at that clutch... don't look at that throttle... Those are meant to be HELD by your hands... its not running away... so LOOK AHEAD AT THE ROAD and you will go straight. Look DOWN and yes you will lose your bearing and balance. You see people on the road riding... do they look far ahead or look at their feet?

4. You need to ride with your legs UP. Why? cause when your legs are on the ground you will tend to touch the ground and hence you will lose your BALANCE. thus you wobble and lose control.

5. GRIP THE TANK WITH YOUR TIGHTS. This will make you become ONE with your bike. (Especially when you are turning... scary right? Look ma no legs :p )

6. DO NOT SNATCH THE FRONT BRAKE!. Yes... that right hand thing there... don't use too much force on it... you snap at it... and you will lose control.. EVERYTIME. learn to use the back brake... on your Right leg.

Ok... these are the basics which you must figure out. Once you got this... i'm pretty sure you'll do well.

Go have fun now! VrOOM

thank you everyone!!! :)

i can cycle but on a motorbike i just cant seem to balance

my instructor told me to ride with my legs on the ground first after seeing how i rode and then slowly put my legs up when i am more comfortable

every time i put my legs back up my bike i will start to lose control and the bike will sway more severely than with my legs down

my eyes are looking ahead though and i have been told to try sitting closer to the tank, relax myself and when i am still wobbling, he told me to try sitting back and straighten my arms a little but it didnt really helped

my instructor has been reallyyy patient with me  and didnt flare up and this made me even more guilty

for clutch and breaking i think it is manageable for now =X

cheesecake, are you a male or female?

Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

and oversteer is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.

Horsepower is how fast you hit the wall,

torque is how far you take the wall with you.

i am not coming across as gender discrimination to TS with regards to riding. you may have mistaken me.

i am merely interested in TS's sex. ^5

Hi TS,

A newbie myself, just proceeded to 1.02.

If you are starting on the small round circuit not "bang tire", you need to apply more throttle then slowly release to half clutch.

The key point is your leg must grip the fuel tank and maintain a certain speed, too slow you will wobble and your leg will start to widen up to try to balance(that's what I encounter during my 1.01 and first attempt 1.02).

At least the griping and speeds help me, but my stopping posture still, fail...

My 2 cents.

wobbling...... most likely you were looking too near, e.g. looking down at your handle bar.....

try head up and look far, leave the handle bar to the feeling of your hands....
