Yes. it's all in the hands of the bike retail companies. You can bid too, but as an individual, you don't have the muscle or volume to affect the price.

But this type of prices are bidded by those bike shop right? So end of the day is it the shop deciding how much to bid and what time to go in?

dealers need to outbid other dealers in order to get the COEs to sell their bikes. And it is the consumer who decides whether to buy the new bikes or not at each price level. making noise no use

When comes to bidding buyer must consider whether you Need Or Want it?

Some buyers can afford will "Want" it and seldom use it!

Some buyers "Need" it for their basic transport/ job!

I have seller that sell an item, he told me to bid for it, No thanks I don't Need it! As bidding will always keep going up unless there is no demand on it! Bidding is always asking for higher or highest price!

Demand and supply! More COE for bikes that is enough to cover the bidding, price will goes down/stable and if lesser COE for bikes to cover the demand, bidding price will goes up!

This is a number game, is out of our control!

Buyers who wants to buy new bike, ask yourself what you want??????????

Hopefully within a year it would drop to $500, I need to renew my bike soon.

at the end of the day, the 5-6K COE is still affordable to many (not all). Its just that we are not used to it.

Affordable = taking loans. Then it is affordable. When the pricw was only a few hundreds it is still affordable. Yet we still have people defaulting payments. Everything is affordable that way. Whether or not complete paying off the loan is another thing.

that's what loan is for. Otherwise, how can most of us afford to live life? No home, no car, no bike, no renovation, no big screen tv, pay income tax also I pay via installment haha not to mention insurance, mobile phones..

Just save up the money, starting from now.

So optimistic. Do take into consideration inflation and the rising prices of almost everything.

dats y better to take loan. u secure the current price then payback by installment.

if u do it the other way round, save n pay full when u have the full amount u may never save enough cos the inflation may be higher than your monthly savings.

anyway, luckily coe is coming down.. but not sure if price of bike will follow or the difference goes to the dealers' pockets lol

That's why Singaporean work day and night paying loan :(

No doubt Loan is good in certain situation that help a person but too much loan "debt" will end up like a working slave to it! What if you loss a job for a few months? how sell off everything!:weep:

Don't forget car price and COE will depreciate yearly! The first day you buy a new bike you are already making a loss! Bike and car is only a transport that help you move around of course if you have the money can buy bigger car or bike but with loan! Check if your job whether is stable before you take up too... many loan!

Have you forgotten about the economy crisis or you have not gone thru the crisis before? Many people loss their job and wealth and some start to fly down from HIGH Building!

If you haven't pay up fully on what you loan, the item still don't belong to you and during economy crisis these loan item will end up no value at all!

Guess who wants you to take up more loan?

Some people never learn from history. They need to experience it then they will know sadly. But then there are some went through the experience but still never learn.

If cant afford COE, don't buy. Take our 'world-class' public transport. That's what govt wants =P
Its too world class with pretty much every nationality in it.

nothing wrong to buy things n sell them later. Some sell to upgrade, some sell cos need the $$ for other things, some do it cos of loss of income. Whatever the reasons, I dont see anything wrong with it. Its much more fun to own something u like for a few short years rather than never to own it. Some may fall into a pit, get deeper n deeper into debts n even become bankrupt. Ideally, u should know when to cut losses and sell of etc before becoming bankrupt but even if u make that mistake, declared bankrupt its still ok if u learn n can get back up again stronger.

“There is nothing new in history of COE. Whatever happens in the COE pricing today has happened before and will happen again.” The downward trend has begun, let's watch the show and the past few years, we have being living in the world of over leverages.

I've seen and learned a lot from someone who was crushed by it and it does not need the (HDB, Stock, COE and etc)market to wipe out 50% to feel the pain and hopelessness and make difficult decision that needs the next generation to pay. The "right side" is coming??

i agree the downward trend has begun but I disagree with "There is nothing new in history of COE. Whatever happens in the COE pricing today has happened before and will happen again". We have seen many firsts recently, first time bike COE becomes more expensive than bike. 1st time bike COE supply was cut by govt, 1st time 2nd hand bike depreciation near or equals new bike depn. 1st time u can make money by selling ur 2nd hand bikes.

Once the GPS ERP is announced, there is less need for COE supply to bo so tightly controlled as previously. More train lines are coming up... over time there is less n less need for personal transport for the regular work to home transportation needs. more car COE supply coming in means more congested roads, ppl will start thinking taking public transport even when they have cars for those that dont need to ferry kids before n after work..

so I say, history is in the making. Let it unfold!

kzone. i would like to believe you and i hope for all of us your dream will come true but i seriously believe coe is money making scheme .THEY will surely implement some type of scheme to get that money churning scheme. you can never outguess them. they say they get more mrt, then they want to introduce 6.9m people. it is a vicious cycle.

COE is to regulate car population.

ERP is to regulate usage.

I am talking about the trend, not what it is first.

The last height we had was in 1997 IIRC 3k COE. Every heights had its record breaking price.

COE prices down, HDB prices down, years of low interests coming to the end and retrenchment in O&G and some other industries .

I guess is coming soon.

yah, i also agree coe is money making scheme and based on the various things that are happening now, I believe things wont be pushed down our throats as forcefully as before. (let's get more voices in to parliament!!) they make even work harder to give a nicer looking package to the same rotten stuffs inside :)

anyway, we no need to outguess them ah.. we just wait.. for the coe to continue come down. Worse case I believe it it hovers around 6.5K so not much risks of waiting for bike coe to be down

yes, erp to regulate. n my view is GPS erp would allow better regulation n thus allows less control / greater variance over population growth

TDSR is abosbing most of impact... never say never but if really anayse it, you will understand why we wont see the same level of crash as previous "crashes" in sg

Agreed,

Property controls was imposed after the our Gov because interests was low and was sloshing all over the world looking for returns.

MAS prevent the Singapore property market from overheating (it was showing signs of a bubble forming). Of course to a certain extend, it is interconnect to the spending nature of the people. Once you have house you must have car and maybe motorcycle? Which tied to the high COE and properties prices during the 2010-2014 era.

TDSR will be lax during the bad times to encourage spending again. In fact our gov is smart not to make the same mistake again.

In fact once the TDSR kicked in, I have liquidated nearly all my shares to wait for the train to come again.

Hopefully $500 COE will be here soon, I am looking at Yamaha Tricity Scooter.
