Compared to car is still not ridiculous. Tax you 110% the OMV and COE can cost your another 2-3 times the OMV of the car.

People still buying, recession would never hit us.

Last month renew my COE, thinking of using another 10 years but the bike shop that overhaul my scooter on June 2015 had let me down! spend Almost 3k overhaul and change suspension, tires.. loss more then 3K after trade in! The boss there still tell me just repair will do spend another $300.00 change water pump but I know the scooter is already beyond repair as it need to change the engine and re-register the engine no. with LTA cost maybe another few thousand:bouncefire::bouncefire::bouncefire::bouncefire::bouncefire::bouncefire: he didn't tell me, only want me to continue to repair and change parts

My scooter had changed water pump in early 2015 , mid 2015 overhaul, Jan 2016 engine oil leak the boss still said don't waste money just repair

Have to get a new scooter instead, so high COE can't help it as no transport can't travel and can't work and no money :( Heartache hope the next 3 - 4 years have peace with this new scooter!

Buying a second hand bike/ scooter must be very very careful!

Go to a bike repair shop must be very very careful!

U r right, it's hard for people wants to buy a car.

But, driving car can be necessity for one, where as luxury for others.

For me, riding 2B is necessity, class 2A is the Luxury, Class 2 is the Dream.

How I wish........ COE......... Omg. ....

Waaaaa, looks like I need to downgrade to electronic bicycle, at least worth paying for what we use, rather than COE, Insurance, Road Tax, ERP, Parking etc.

Doubt it will affect sales much. Just extend instalments. That is what people like to do nowadays right? Whole life still paying debts. It will still increase coz some people justify paying 10000 for COE for a bike.

Can't help it. I thought of renting a bike/ scooter but still high price, ard $300+ per month. By calculating must take public transport to collect and return the rental bike is an additional cost:cry::cry::cry: Still need transport to work and time to work ard 3am - 4am(by taxi midnight charges) and also places to work, no mrt or buses can reach! All we work is to pay these kind of high cost of leaving and left nothing till old age!

yeah agree... its a personal choice on whether to take up such a long loan or not. Many say "no choice", but its still a choice to choose "no choice". I dont think bad economy will affect bike COE that much since quantum is not that high compared to car and as u said, long term finance is available. My guess is at best, it wud go to around 3-4k level if/when times are bad.

I would start saving from now to the end of the bike coe....since bad to worse case scenario... coe renewal wld be around 7k?....

maybe set aside 700 a month for 10 mths...or 350 a mth for 20 mths..or 230 a mth for 30 mths.... ...even better....this way u do not incur any interest.....cheers...

I ride at 70km/hr only...please please dont blow2 at me or overtake me dangerously....wait i change into Incredible Hulk n dont know why my little baby bike will always be ahead of u if u do that

boss...let other pple extend their installments and other pple whole life still paying monthly many months debts....as long as you and me always to remember not to fall into that kind of trap ....our happiness and financial stability is in our hands....cheers

I am cool about this plan, I remember when COE was all time high, recession will hit us. It happened 1997, so I believe when people lose their jobs, maybe homes, and default payments that's when the COE is the lowest. Then I can start shopping for my bike already, finally after I passed my license 18 years, I can have a new bike. Kawa ZX10r looked good.

Really, there is no recession in SG. Many are rich enough to pay for 6.5k COE. My $2 fly away....
