Hi guys and girls,

I'm a rider riding with glasses over the years. There are some threads about which helmets fit specs riders best. This is obviously due to the fact that helmets and specs don't necessarily go well together..

But I was wondering what would the response be if I were to start this thread to get feedback on which brand/model of glasses fits helmet best..

I've used the Oakley Crosslink in the past. And no it doesn't work. Too rigid.

New nike specs, fits but over time your frame gets distorted..

Wondering what others are using. Please feel free to contribute below!

Would you consider wearing a headwear? That way, you can put on your helmet while wearing your glass without having them off like you did in the past. It also kind of absorb your sweat thus making your helmet less smelly.

Hello kongfu.. Sorry I was referring to full face helmets.. No choice but to take out specs before wearing the helmet...

My glasses frame is by ic! berlin, works on most full or open face helmets.... the thin metal frame is flexible yet strong, being using it for several years now....

Cool.. Will check out your brand.. Available in most stores?

The last time I checked... it is not available in all stores.... I see that you are staying in the West, you can go to Gek Poh SC, the shop is at the ground floor.... I got mine there....

I think it really depends on helmet too. I have a trax helmet which i can just put on without removing my specs but i just bought a nolan N104 which cant.Maybe because the nolan is still new.

Seems like oakley has hard frame.. Can't bend enough to fit. For those that can bend, hopefully they bend enough without being deformed..

Oh lol I'm now staying in central area. Used to stay within walking distance of gek Poh..

I have forgotten the individual price of the frames and the lens but the whole package cost me about S$1800, the lens is from Crizal, transition, multicoated, high aspect ratio or something like that, because my degrees are pretty high.... my model may not be available anymore...

Hey all,

Sorry it took so long to update on this thread but I've got some news.

Yesterday i decided to drop by Moto World Kaki Bukit to have a look after settling my installment at another shop nearby. Was looking at some HJC helmets as there were some promo still on going.

Upon nosing around the area I've come to learn that most HJC helmets are spectacle friendly, well, almost all of them are anyways. Most HJCs apparently have the 'slots' to put the spectacle leg in, but not all of the helmets have the same clearance due to different foams that are used. The cheaper ones may feel a bit tight while the ones as you move up the price range fits without touching the foams. By the way I'm wearing a nike specs which have a curved frame almost like a sunglass.

So trying on the CL17 1st, priced around $220, it fits very snug on my averagely sized head -M size. It was so snug that i thought that no way my specs would be able to fit in. But, that was prior to knowing the aforementioned 'slots' for the specs. Even when i slide my specs into the 'slots', its still pressing a little against the leg of the specs. One point to highlight though if you can visualize what i'm trying to say without showing pictures, is that the slots are fixed at an angle into the helmet foams. This means that if you wearyour helmet with the visor parallel to the floor as you stand straight looking to the front, your specs may be pointing downwards slightly with your spec legs not resting on your ears but instead they're hugging your head like 1 inch above your ears.

So to cure that, you may need to point the helmets slightly downwards as you wear it for it to sit in the same position with the helmet on as it would when you're wearing the specs without helmet.

Does the above make things more confusing?

Anyway after that i tried on the RPHA 10, i think. I recall it was mentioned by another forumer here on another thread that this was one of the choices for specky riders.. He didnt lie. I tried that on, and slid my specs into the helmet, the specs sat in there nice and comfortable, the cushion pushing against the side of my specs. But... it costs almost twice as much.

So i took risk in going with the first CL17, thinking i would now wear it with just contact lenses first to season the foam into shape before using my other specs with a straight leg and see how it goes.

After buying it last night, i went out for a ride, maybe about 45 minutes.

First up:

Noise insulation - good - u do still hear buffeting around 90 ish, but its not like a direct buffeting from my worn helmet of 3 years. You get the sense that yes its buffeting outside but by the time u hear the noise its 'filtered' through the foams. Need to get a sense of how will it be when i head up north over the coming weekend.

Vision - the field of view is slightly narrower than my previous AFX dual sport helmet but its not obstructing. You just about see the edge of the visor opening in the helmet as you turn around to check your blind spot. One slightly negative i would say is the vision though. I dont think its because i was wearing contact lenses that may give you a glare at night with all the lights and so on, i found that there was slight glare when riding with road lights On. I could be due to the thick visor plus the antifog film that was installed. Having said that, i only noticed that the first 10 minutes into my ride, after that i didn't pay much attention to it.

Ventilation - never felt more ventilated although i do not have an extensive helmet collection. The top vent flows air through at 90ish speeds and i do actually feel it on my scalp. Chin ventilation i presume to be as good because dumb me switched it off when riding.

Cushion - With it being brand spanking new, i cant really say anything concrete. Anyway as it was new and offering a snug fit, it was comfortable when u ride. But, after 45 minutes, my jaw start to hurt. The optimistic side of me tells me that its due to the new foam, but i really hope it may go away because having a bad jaw in just 45 minutes is a distraction when riding long distances.

Lightness - at 1.4 kg, its not the lightest of the lot. But put it on and swing your head while your ride, u dont feel its weight around your neck. As im riding a versys, one drawback is head-on wind catching the beak of my DS helmet, but no such issue with this. I don't even need to have my windshield replaced for an even taller one. Although this needs to be confirmed further during the trip up north.

So that's my own personal review, hopefully this helps some of you guys and girls.

I'm agree with you and I think it mostly slightly that is open face so does not require to remove the specs to put in on the helmet. But not sure whether flip up helmet can work that way. :(

I'm also planning to get another helmet which i can't decide either is flip up helmet or full face helmet. Still looking for more reviews on.

Hi ticks, so for full face as normal specs (not straight leg) seem unable to fit in for time been. Right?

I feel that my HJC CL-ST very specky friendly. Can fit my sports glasses and my Oakley very nicely.

Hi man.

Lol just so u all know I changed to the HJC RPHA 10 because finally this one was the easiest to slot in my specs -non straight leg. Very good.

The only downside I think is the buffeting coming from the top air vent. Lol.

So if anybody's interested in already putting up the previous helmet up for sale..

Maybe depends on person's head shape/size. My head is quite wide (61cm), and I can't fit my specs into a CL-ST. Ironically, I can fit my specs into the cheaper HJC helmet, CS-R1, which I eventually bought.

I'm looking for a full face which can fit my specs too. Went down to chong aik before to try their helmets but most of them can't slot a pair of specs in.

U can come to my place to try out my CL17 if you want. It's up for sale. There's the slot for specs but it really depends how it actually fits on your head.

My Arai xd4 not friendly to specs. so what i did was drill a small 'tunnel' through my helmet foam so that my specs go in nicely. now no problem with specs & helmets.
