Can a child ride pillion?

Can a child ride pillion on a bike? I was coming back home from work today and noticed this guy and his kid, maybe 6-7 years old riding on a bike near my HDB block. I looked up the basic and advanced theory books but couldn't find info about kids riding. What are the rules?

I think bike also 8 years old and above, with a suitable helmet.

no, i remember and it is 12 years of age and above for kids to ride as pillion.

I ve seen kindergarten and even lower than that being pillion.. but its nice to see lah.. esp those brothers pillioning their LITTLE siblings on BIG BIG bikes.. d way the kids hug.. cant even hug completely.. so cute.. but seriously its no safe.. scary..

Yea, theres a primary school near my house... Have seen some daddys pillion-ing their child to school...

 

When I was in primary school I remembered my cousin pillioned me too. But then nothing is said during bike lessons

My dad used to pillion me when I was 6-8 years old...but that was years ago. Brought me to school and elsewhere. Guess the law must have changed since.
