Hi all,

Many of us have bought second hand bikes from bike shops. They typically give a one - two month warranty. (then they exclude anything due to wear and tear..)

Nearly ALL problems that come up with second hand bikes are going to be due to wear and tear right? Fork seal leaking, brake pads worn, chain rusty/sprocket koyak, tyre botak, warped discs, CDI spoil, rectifier burnt, headlight blow, brake calipers stuck, coolant leaking, carbon brush malfunction, clutch slipping, etc etc. These are probably the problems we most commonly face with second hand bikes.. and they are all due to wear and tear right? So the warranty doesn't cover all this right?

What I am wondering is... if they dont cover repairs due to wear and tear, what exactly is the warranty for?

cover things like spoiled rectifer cannot be considered as wear and tear. if engine oil or coolant leak also not counted. steering cone replace should also be covered under warranty.

if buying second hand bike, can still ask for EO and brake pad change before taking over bike.
