Hmmm....

Sounds like the anti-vib riser is a must have. May I ask after the installing the riser, did you experience wiring cable, clutch cable becomes tight...?

Not at all...there is enough slack for the cables and the riser is only about 1-2 inch increase

Its not about hard you can hit, its about how many times you can take a hit and remain standing

probably my first entry on this forum.

My metallic solar yellow Versys is getting on average 23km/L.

Pretty good considering using in the city.

Everything stock standard less some add-ons.

Ex-bike was Kalahari Yellow R1100GS, so the Versys is a welcome change with its agility and weight reduction.

Change EO every 3.3km eg same oil filter for 10K with 3 oil changes on the same filter, no problem so far.

Would be keen to check out the anti vibration riser, can someone please give me the contact.

Thanks

I recently installed a SW Motech crashbar on my 2011 versys, since then I noticed an increase in vibrations at 4-5k rpm. Anybody else notice this? Any ideas as to what can be done to reduce the vibs?

BTW i get a bout 20km/l consistently since I rode it out the bike shop. It would only drop to 19km/l when I go crazy on the throttle...:p

Hi guys, mr problem kid here. I found out e problem to my sensor issue. Under e seat, there is this thick chunk of wires wrapped in tape connecting to ecu. Apparently, there is a sharp metal edge near it so after some time, the wire got exposed by the constant contact with e sharp metal. When e wire touches e body frame, ecu register a fault in vehicle down sensor and cut off e engine. Kudos to mr man from Motormatic for discovering the problem. So guys pls check your wires.

Ok here goes the first question: it seems like you all bought your Kawa in SG but are there riders who imported it?

And maybe you can save me some time on Google if you know how much does the latest Versys cost in Thailand and malaysia - a price range will do.

Next question would be how much did you spend on the bike to tweak it from its stock features to the must-have mods and add-ons ? I'm not interested here in cosmetics or speed as much as safety, comfort and ways to lengthen the bike's life (tires, sprockets, lights, crash bar, better EO, brakes etc..).

I get that the last part depends on each rider but I'm thinking there might be some well known changes that most of you have done or would recommend. I'd like to factor that into the OTR price of the bike.

Thanks guys!

Hi all Versysian

Will be leaving soon for work in Thailand and may be able to help you guys buy consumable spares...ie clutch cable, oil filter, brake pad etc.

Do give me your part number and V model year and best if u can print out the parts required.

Please do your own checks wrt pricing and give me your instructions on pricing limit.

I will call you from Thailand if item is near to your pricing limit.

All purchase will have original receipts from Kawasaki agent.

Can only say from my humble experience it is 100% cheaper to buy our V spares in Thailand.

Example a clutch cable in Thailand cost $14 and original Kawa oil filter cost abt $12.

If not wrong Singapore Evershine selling clutch cable above $50 and oil filter above $20.

Cantact 96899766 latest by 17 Feb.

Note: I am selective and may not take all orders as i have limited capacity.

Priority will be given to Versysian i know and have met up in this forum.

Cheers

Hi Bro,

Never touched my TPS... read your posts in it in the earlier pages but never touched it...

Still getting low mileage... sad

And to mr Rex, have you tampered with your tps? That might be causing your low mileage.

Firstly regarding importing the bike - Yes buying in TH might be cheaper but the taxes, paperwork, waiting etc etc etc will end up costing you more than buying it here. Had a friend some years ago who wanted to import his bike from NZ here but super duper leceh so he just bought one here.

Now as far as accessories go it is very difficult to gauge because it boils down to what you are using the bike for.

Just transport from work to home to weekend outings - no need nothing cos the bike is well fitted

The problem starts when you want to tour - than you gotta think about storage, comfort, safety etc etc etc

Also, I believe that for a bike like Versys, adding on stuff is a never ending journey.....

Here are some of the items that I feel are necessary because i want to tour and have a more comfortable ride:

1) H&B crashbars

2) Ventura Headlight Protectors

3) Ermax Windshield

4) H&B Topbox & Rack

5) Bagster Tank Cover & Tank Bag

6) Front Fender Extender

7) Pyramid rear fender

8) Motovation Swing Arm Spools

9) Front Axle Sliders

10) EBC HH Brake Pads

11) Motowerk Anti-Vibration Riser

12) Speedy's Flatfoot

And the list goes on....

And the list will continue to grow... haha

Worst thing is that to me all the above and the others I have planned are important

O'ren sorry but i lost track of most of the pricing liow.

Thanks for the pic, pretty cool :thumb: !

Thanks Ben! Which one is your FB group?

Rex, thanks a lot for the detailed post! Never mind the prices, for most I can have an idea looking them up online or asking fellow riders. That was really helpful thanks as mainly if I upgrade it will be to go do touring in MY and TH.

As for the import, I actually met with a couple of guys who imported their bikes from overseas. Like you said, gotta prepared for a lot of leg work, but if there's a lot of thins in the checklist, on the SG side it's very transparent and easy to do, but of course one has to do it an go from LTA to customs and back etc..

However, it's also clear that it's actually cheaper. Some may say its not worth saving 1000sgd, but from what I learned, the bigger the bike, the bigger the savings. Now the versys sells at what, close to 22k? Maybe more? That's more than 3 times its price in USD.. So there is definitely savings to make which Could be used for...accessories hehe..

Guys, need your opinions on which shop to buy helmets in singapore. Am currently looking to buy an agv for the wife and if the price is right, a shoei for myself. Which shop and what is the price range if u guys know. Appreciate your feedback. Might be coming down in march or april.

Posted

For AGV you can head to Regina at Kelantan Lane.

For Shoei can head to Chong Aik at Desker Road.

Both are near to each other.

Just a piece of advise though, do set a budget in your mind and do some research regarding the price especially for AGV. Regina will quote you a price and it will be your responsibility to haggle and bargain with the salesperson. Goods are good quality but service and pricing tends to vary.

Not so much at Chong Aik though. Happy shopping!
