Hi Guys!

I have been servicing my bike for the last 2yrs with a service center in Kaki bukit (don't wana name the place). I'm not always happy with the guys as they seem to unnecessarily replacing things which don't require. The mechanics speak to each other in mandarin (assuming i don't understand and tell each other not to bother checking) and just suggest me to replace (for ex. spark plugs, break pads, battery... ).

I know i can do nothing about it other than stop going there. As i only became acquainted to them since due to my bike being purchased from them, i don't know many gud service stations.

COULD YOU PLEASE SUGGEST AND SHARE THE PLACES WHERE YOU TAKE YOUR BIKE FOR SERVICE.

thanks!

my advice to u is that all shop u go will be abt the same. they will try to suck n drain ur wallet. always do research, know ur bike n not jus let them do wat they like. always ask question n try to challenge them n tt of cos u will need some knowledge. plugs, pads n battery r all consumables, it need to be replace when e times is up n some parts r jus wait till it breakdown then u change. if u got ur manual wit u, theres guidance in servcing duration for u maintain ur bike well for normal road use. track use will be totally diff.

wat i personally feel is that as long as e mech dun screw up my bike n do things reasonably, i can take it n not to bullshit me. making gd relationship with e worksop is also impt, ask mech lots of question, if they r not willing to share then u can go to other shops,i nv leave my bike unattended when they service it unless it jus a simple job. always double check their work.

Hey guys, need your opinions on valve clearance.

My R6 2006 has 52000+ km on it, should i do a valve clearance adjustment? there's a rattling sound coming from the engine area on cold startup, which i know is normal and some say its common of yamaha bikes, but that day i rode without a helmet in my carpark and the rattling sound kinda gets louder as i rev the throttle.

the manual states that we should do a valve clearance adjustment at 40000km, i asked planet's ah chong and the ahpek told me no need to do, 150k km then can do. (hahaha is he for real?)

Sound like need to change cam tensional ($100-$120). Not valve clearance.

if u need to change ur cam chain tensioner means ur timing chain is already loosen, changing the tensioner itself will not solve the prob, u need to replace ur timing chain.
