i just got myself a pulsar 180cc , i am a previous ex owner of phantom 150. so let me give u my 2cents :D

pro

very exceptionally good milage , i just tested my pulsar . 225km . 5.25litre

average out to 42.8km/litre

good look:angel: , i think pulsar looks nice but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

a pretty good speed and pickup. i don't know about cbf , but my engine is pretty smooth and a better pickup then my old phantom. and top speed is around 120km/h , but i don recommend always whacking your bike. and if u full blast , the vibration is quite scary. anyway the meter is quite accurate. i firmly believe 120 km/h on my meter can easily match a sp 140km/h

the cons

vibration. pulsar vibration is quite significant. must try out yourself to know the feeling. though for me i think it's ok.

the tire. change it change it change it. coulden stress enough, the stock mrf tire sucks . always skid . better change to dunlop or battalax tire

the cost of spares . it's freaking expensive  a headlamp cost like $65 . a exhaust cover cost like $28. as this bike is exclusively distributed by only 1 company. so the things are pretty expensive. and no. there is no cheong item sold at LAB.

at the end of the day. i still love this bike after getting it. :cheeky: , just try not to self skid . as the cost of the buying spare part are the single most minus feature of pulsar.

so let me state the conclusion

better looking then cbf . good milage . faster pickup then cbf cause higher torque and better top speed . more rare and "in" image .

cons

expensive spares, vibration . lousy stock tire.

oh means your riding skill good lor :giddy:

anyway i am not the only 1 complaining though. i met a female pulsar while pumping petrol. saw her sides all scratch . ask her why , she told me her tire always skid on a wet day , even travelling on a straight road just run thru the white lines will be enough for the wheel to fish tail. i check the brand. mrf stock -_- .

vibration is not an issue wif my cbf, previous had a dead point at 70km/hr.now after sme turning here n there myself wif the carb, it feel smooooother.my average if dun wack here n there is 45km/ltr.worse is 38km/ltr.pick up n speed is a little better wif my current 10w-30 E.O.but to admit tt bajaj haf better torque off the line as it's 180cc against 150cc.

I think CBF better man, jus look at its quality(soild structure, parts & side fairings), somemore is Honda(trustable brand). Pulsar is a plastic bike man, jus go and compare the bike on the spot at bike shop urself, the starter is shaky, original parts is ex, High accident rates etc.. I rather u compare CBF with Fz 150i..

coolman1982 dun anihow say bajaj bike quality i s louzy..i owned the bajaj and the quality the build in is ok not perfect though.... u dun owned one, dun anihow shoot. honda trustable?? hahahahahhah...... if bajaj brand not trustable, y are there alot on the road....

both has their pros and cons...... every bike has its owned problem.. for bajaj pulsar spare parts wise can fit some honda and yamaha one... spare parts no problem. i rather u compare pulsar with fz150

You know we always say there will be those who run their mouths off without establishing empirical evidence. We can only hope that for the better, they take the necessary actions to enrich themselves that they may learn to enjoy life and be at peace with everyone else.

Anyway, so when you buy a pulsar, can we just assume that we're gonna change the tyres asap? And is it necessary to change the carbs too? Just about every biker I've seen on this forum is always talking about carb modifications in some way! :)

Chaos, are those aftermarket shocks that you installed in the rear? Love the underseat neon!

Hi,

The tires is advisable to change due to different road condition. In sinapore the road is tarmac, while back in india, the road is mostly sandy. that why most pulsar rider are advise to change the tire.

There is no need to change or do carb modification.

There is no rite or wrong in individual view on both bike. Both bike got their pros and cons. Most important is the rider. How the bike turn out to be is all depend on the rider.

To me the Engine is the most important.

Bajaj Engine made in India while CBF150 is Japanese design Engine.

I wonder after 5 years compare the two will they still yield satisfactory performance?

How much is Bajaj Pulsar or a Honda CBF? Where to get they? Newbie here...

U can get pulsar from Universal Motor, their dealer in Sinapore. As for the price i suggest u go down to UM n get the latest pricing. Their price is quite transparent. :)

Just my 2 cents worth..

Juz bought my 2nd hand Bajaj Pulsar 180cc.. Before bought donno anything kena chip chop.. Buy oredi now then do lots of repairs and servicing..

Won't really blame the bike, only can blame the previous owner and the shop.. Obviously the previous owner whack the bike like donno wat.. So now I took over I change lots of things...

Main stand, side stand, handlebar, front wheel rim, front wheel disc, rear brake pad, diaphram, all O rings and a top overhaul.. 4th and 5th gear levers and drivers also change.. I bought my ride for 2k and spent around 1k on all these repairs, so generally spent about 3K excluding insurance...

So far I won't say I'm unhappy with the bike.. Riding generally as transport is very good... Still remember when I was taking practical lessons as L-Plate my buddy suggest Bajaj Pulsar my 1st reaction was WTF is dat?? When he told me its India brand I almost fainted.. But after looking at the bike itself I almost like fell in love.. Cos before this I always very siao Super 4.. And funny thing is this Pulsar if you see from some angles its like a mini Super 4...

Power wise, I won't say its has got no power.. But do remember we are not riding a Gilera or any Big sports bike.. So pickup wise I think its reasonable.. With a general top speed of 120kmh, I think no need to complain so much for a Street bike either... Fuel consumption mah,, my fuel gauge sensor abit got problem so can't judge base on full tank coverage,, but generally my speed is always around 70-90kmh.. Occasionally will go up to 100^^.. 8L gives me 300+kmh... I think really quite fuel economy..

So far I keep visiting UM recently for my bike issues, I see quite alot of pulsar riders there with a common problem, dat is the wiring.. either side stand light not working,,, headlight not working etc etc... Guess this wiring issue, perhaps the India side could have more room for improvement...

Juz toking about wiring problem nia, now I've encountered the problem myself. So fed up leh, juz 1 day after doing the overhaul engine every smooth smooth sounds nice.. But next early morning couldn't start the bike, gotta take cab to work..

Nemesis and his friend came down to help me rectify, initially thought its my spark plug or battery got problem, sekali after sometime realize it is the wiring cable had a short circuit.. Now even my whole cable harness is new... Damn...
