Yeah the big fields in Sengkang or Woodlands. Yishun no longer possible because too near to Seletar Air Base. Sometimes you'll find sellers with vans parked near the fields stocked with kites. The bigger kites would cost more and stunt kites can cost upwards of $300...

 

Too bad it's been thunderstorming almost everyday.

Yes, I was also introduced to Passion Kites by a kiter named Rock at West Coast Park. Quite an experienced guy.

Passion seems to sell reasonably priced beginners' kites online as well as some professional kites.

 

I was trying to fly my ship kite that my friend gave me - a balinese ship with sails at horizontal position instead of vertical. Catches the draft and lifts. Pretty amazing sight to see it float up and as it comes back down again. Rock helped me with some advice on the launch.

 

Hey, there's a kite festival coming up on 31 Aug and 1 Sep at the Promontory. Should be good.

Why rush? It's the journey, not the destination ... :shades:
