Hi Guys!!

gt few Q's to check u all u experts here!!!

1.) Wat's e tyre's pressure for sport rim (front and rear)?

2.) wat kinda of engine oil is so-called e 'best'/recomm for wave?? full-syn or semi-syn? Any diff??

3.) Usually for full-syn, wat's e millage to change e engine oil?? same as normal?5000km? n semi-syn, 3000km?

4.) Any plug u guys think it good for tis bike?? any recomm? NGK or??

5.) Lastly, which motorshop u guys will recomm to do up tis bike?? JB or any in S'pore?

sorry i know nothing abt tis, need helps fr u guys!!

Thankz All in advance!!

1) 29 for both

2) i would recommend semi-syn oils. more importantly u should be looking at the vicosity ratings... go for the 15w50/20w50... 10w50 is too thin for our wave... usually meant for race use where thin oil is needed for quicker acceleration, at the expense of wear and tear...

3) the recommended mileage to change is at 2500km regardless of fully/semi-syn oils... reason is simple... our wave most of the time is riding at full speed... this means that the engine wear and tear is very high (which explains higher vicosity oils in no.2), in addition to this, the wave has no oil filter...

4) just any plugs will do... u wont feel any diff in normal and iridium plugs...

5) any shop will do too... its just a wave... engine design is simple... i doubt there are any mechs out there who will mess up ur bike big time... :)

The 10w or 20w has nothing to do with 'quicker acceleration'. The w stands for Winter. It gives an indication how 'flowable' the oil at low temp, usually below 0deg celsius. For Singapore weather, the 'w' ratings has low effects. We should be more concern with the 50 value. The higher value tells us the oil is able to stay 'thick' at super high temperature. A *w50 oil is thicker than a *w40 oil.

If your wave wants better piston frictions protection, then get a *w50 oil.

The laboratory recommended oil change for Mobil1 fully synthetic is 100,000km! But of course many engine manufacture will wants the owner to protect their engine with fresh oil and thus recommend frequent oil change. The engine Rev for Wave is max at 6000rpm, so I do not see the relations of full speed with engine wear. Consider a CB400 or R1, their engine rev even higher > 6000rpm at crusing speed. The only link is that Wave has no oil filter, so frequent oil change is recommended. As to how often, as long as you feel comfortable and your wallet fat enough, 2500km to 5000km is the norm.

One point to add, the wave will 'eat' engine oil...best to check at every 2000km and top-up if necessary. This is the main reason why many motordiam advise you to change engine oil at 2500km, since the oil will be low, might as well change a new engine oil.

When I just bought my wave, after riding ard 300 clicks i found out the engine oil lvl is low. every morning before moving off i check if there is leakage of oil udner the bike, but dun have le. U stated wave "eat" engine oil, why is it so when it is a 4 stroke bike?

Can clear my doubts?

Guys, which rear shocks do your use? I understand most of those with cannister only for show and not really working cannister.. What is the difference between those with preload adjustment and fully adjustable ones? Any recommendation on specific brand and prices (locally that is, dont intend to go in JB)?

Another thing, which bike shop stock Michelin Pilot Sport tyres? most I went to only stock the Dunlop ones..

One cant always believe what he sees, let alone what he does not..

If your piston ring is not 'tight', the engine will 'eat' more oil.

When the piston moves 'down', the side will be splashed with engine oil. The piston moves 'up' will bring and rub the oil on the cylinder wall. This is how the engine oil protects the piston wear and tear from rubbing against the wall.

Some oil will remains on the cylinder wall.

When the next piston stroke comes, the top edge of the piston will 'scrape' the engine oil sticking on the cylinder wall into the combustion chamber. This minute amount of engine oil will get burned and expelled into the exhaust pipe.

Over thousand of Up & Down motion of the pistons...the engine oil will get 'eaten' up. That is what happen when people say some engine will 'eat' engine oil.

The main cause is loose and worn out piston rings.

momo, some rear shock with cannister requires cutting of fairing? I thought most come with allowance for the cannister to be fitted in? Which brands are you referring to?

Any idea how much is the showa and ohlin original?

LAB quoted me S$75 for the mikuku ones..

How much are the inverted one with cannister? Rough estimate?

As for tyres, I am looking for Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.. No one seems to be stocking them..

Thanks again for your help..
