Hi,

I'm collecting a 2nd hand wave tomorrow. Most parts is stock. But suspension is the rainbow color one. Owner changed it. Is that good?

I like to know a few things abt this bike:

1. Tyre pressure front is 225 and back is 250 right? Is this tube or tubeless tyres?

2. Engine oil change every 3k km. Use semi or fully syn? Recommendation?

3. Spark plug change every how many km?

4. For tube and tubeless tyres, what is recommendation?

5. What abt sport rims? What kind is gd? Where to get in s'pore?

Btw, does anyone have the wave user manual? not the technical specs one..

welcome to waver's club

hahaha

erm...actually any other suspension besides the stock ones are better lar

better in the sense harder lor

the tyre pressure 225 250 i suppose is for stock spoky rims bahz...for tubeless rims then not so sure liaoz...should be ard that figure also lar...wont go off too far

for engine oil...from mineral to fully syn also got pple use

haha...personally using castrol r4 fully syn now...find it the best amongst the other oil i have used so far...tried castrol activ w/ syn particles and idemitsu mineral oil before...as for how long changeengine oil...also up to individuals...anything 5000km and below should be fine bahz

spark plug will depend on what kind of spark plug u use lor...if those more exp ones can last u longer...so in generally once u find the bike less power liao then change lor

tyres..

tube = michelin sport

tubeless = tt900

sports rims depends on whether u wan to get original honda or other brands one

dont really know how to differentiate between gd or bad sports rims...some juz look better than others??? should be available in all gd motordiams bahz

user manual not the one w/ technical specs then the one w/ what info inside leh??

I like to know a few things abt this bike:

1. Tyre pressure front is 225 and back is 250 right? Is this tube or tubeless tyres? Stock should be TUBE type TYRES. Pressures are listed at your chain guards.

2. Engine oil change every 3k km. Use semi or fully syn? Recommendation? Semi is more than sufficient. If u got extra money to throw then can get fully synthetics.

3. Spark plug change every how many km? Every 2 months can already if want to take care engine, if want to take care wallet then buy one spark plug put inside U-box. The present spark plug use until die then change new one lor. Choice is yours.

4. For tube and tubeless tyres, what is recommendation? Michelin Pilot Sporty for tube type tyres. Tubeless can go for DUNLOP TT900.

5. What abt sport rims? What kind is gd? Where to get in s'pore? Sport rims are heavy! Later no power nia. I still prefer spoky rims for the underpowered Wave. Cheers.

Btw, does anyone have the wave user manual? not the technical specs one.. Refer to the old threads if i not mistaken ard page 49. got the exploded view of your wave engines and all the parts including the u box.

Hi guys thanks for all replies...

Still hv query...spark plug change every 2 months...meaning after travelling for how many km? Cos i'll be using bike quite frequently n my mileage will be higher than most riders...

So 2 months for me may be v diff from another wave rider..n what spark plug to use? Brand n specs?

Posted

Another qn...

Spoky rims n tube tyres - will they get punctured quite easily?

So far in 21months riding experience, i've got a bolt n metal wire pierced into my tubeless tyre....gd thing it's tubeless, else i really super sianz....cos doing despatch...imagine having to interrupt my work, look for motordiam, go back to work again, meet deadline more siong cos so much time wasted..

with the road condition worsen day by day, i suggest u use the sport rims... got my rear tire burst due to an uneven road surface at PIE near woodsville sec there...

u could change ur plug every time u change ur engine oil if u wanna play safe or u could do like wat rxzdelux suggested, bring along spare plug

hmmmm......most prob is ur tyre pressure not enough. Cos i always play with humps.........as in take jumps over humps. i'm 80 over kgand i pump front 250, rear 260.So dun think they puncture so easily lah. Been riding for 1 yr liao and only experienced 1 tyre puncture. i think luck also play a part lor.

Just my 2 cents worth :thumb:

different pple change spark plug at different times

some change base on mileage travelled

some change when the spark plug no longer working liaoz

so up to individual preference bahz

i personally prefer to change 1 spark plug after every 2 engine oil change (ard 5000km change oil once...so 5000 + 5000 = 10000km)

as for brand of sparkplug to use

according to the thai user manual

recommended either denso or NGK sparkplug

the exact model i cant remember liaoz

im currently using NGK B8E which is not the spark plug recommended in the manual

but works fine for me :bouncefire:

been doing fine w/ moi spoky rims so far

did ard 6000km in ard 4+mths liao

no puncture so far

so i guess it would depends on whether u r more or less lucky to kena nails etc bahz

Hi guys,

just wondering, how will be the vibration like for the wave if run up to 80-100km/h? Anyone noe?

thks

vibration due to speed still okay

but it's during those times when the road crosswinds get a bit strong or those big vehicles zoom past u...then u will shake more

but after getting used to it...i guess it's more or less okay bahz

NGK B8E? U really or not? Wave standard spark plug is CPR6EA-9(NGK). For DENSO plugs can use U20EPR9.

Why what's wrong with NGK B8E?

I got my wave already...

Was playing w the gears n i noticed something...

I can't change gear from 4th to neutral while moving(by stepping the front lever). It's only when i stop completely then can change. Is this normal? or safety precaution?

But i can change from neutral to 4th gear while moving(by stepping on the back lever).

Do u guys use both the front n back lever to chnage gears? or just one?

Pls advise....

Any tips for more effective riding on wave are welsome! :cheeky: cos i new rider....

when u kick up ur gear n dun leg go, that's "clutch in"... once u let go, it will automaticall release the "clutch"
