As spoken, you may wanna tap the Fan wires instead of the Thermostat. It does not make sense to me to tap the thermostat, and not to mention dangerous with the ECU and all.

Just get an ON-ON switch to connect the fan wires and positive terminal. You are good to go. You can read up on this http://www.kpsec.freeuk.com/components/switch.htm

If you still wan to tap the thermostat, it is located under the tank, near the waterhose. It near the engine block. Sorry about the location part, never thought of moding this section.

Hmm, alright, I'll try to see what I can do ><... thanks alot for ur help man appreciate it>

From what i understand, u are trying to make the fan run regardless of the termostat condition. Therefore y bother with the thermostat in the first place. All u need is as per what razi said. Just create an on off switch for the fan itself. From the circuit, it is stated that the thermostat sends a signal to the ECU. I highly recommend not to mess with the termostat at all.

Good luck and god speed bro... BTW... Who is Chingay ah?? :cheeky:

Guys, I have a question, I'm intending to install a switch for the radiator fan, I understand I'm supposed to tap a wire at the radiator thermostat right? The issue is I can't seem to locate it anywhere on the radiator. Anyone knows where it is or what else should I do...? I do not wish to bypass the auto turn on thing entirely so connecting it directly to the fan isn't feasible right..?

Hi Kamfper..the question is..where is the radiator sensor fan switch (normally a thermistor componet) for a GSR 400?

Themostat is a total different thing and has nothing to do with a fan but rather just a device incorporated in the coolant sysytem to assist as a gateway to open and close for coolant to circulate when the engine reach a certain temperature.

It is also not recommended just to installed a toggle switch as a "on/off" for the fan itself. This defeat the purpose of your intention to have your fan manually switch on without affecting the original detection for autocut on should your engine overheat. This switch must act as a "on" and "off" link to the original system..so, you have to located that fan switch.

The schematic shows that it is the pin 15 of the ECU that would initiate cut on (energise) the fan relay when there is information data from coolant overheating sensor. I think this diagram is more or less to trouble shoot fan relay function.

Look like in order to manually turn on the fan, one can tapped the +ve supply and ground the fan with a toggle switch unless the fan sensor switch is located. The schematic doesn't really provide what is needed..but thanks, been informative.
