dont mind me saying this, im no noob in bikes... but ur explanations are good enuf to the noobs out there..

so what is the slight difference?? mind attaching ur dyno report in here?? so that everyone can know the slight difference ur talking abt.. share the knwledge..

gsr600, at 6.5k rpm, u can feel the bike sucking the fuel more than 6k rpm and at 6.5k rpm it starts to deliver more power. thats my bike observation. i cant even hit 17km/l...

i've got a drop of abt 2-3hp...also the torque dropped slightly too...i'll upload the reports as soon as possible...my bike only 400..maybe tats y i cud achieve tat kinda mileage..

the part when u feel tat it delivers more power, is it after the flat spot in the powerband? I've read tat, like the 400, the 600 also has a flat spot in the power curve....but its not very obvious...

I couldnt squeeze much from my 600 as well. B4 accident i could get about 19-20km/l. Now if i am lucky i may get 17-18km/l. Keeping the battery well charged does help a lot.

I think he means the 'flat' spot that is around 4.5k to 5k rpm at gear 4. If that is what he means. Actually it is not a flat spot but the air/fuel restriction done to the TPS. Coz Suzuki says too much power not good for you hahaha. Adjusting that will almost eliminate that issue + when changing gear issue. Adjust it too much will make you lose ur engine braking. We have done it and feel great about it hahaha.

Do note, play with TPS will require you to retune you Air-Fuel Controller. Yes....ithe mapping runs. Luckily mine is easy to tune and control.

no ley...my 600 not like that, maybe 400 is like that.. i also actually dont consider it as a flat spot, cant remember the term they use.... i dont think so mine got something to do with TPS. i knw u all been adjusting ur TPS here and there... i already set my TPS to zero.

mine 0-6.5k rpm is like a normal bike response, 6.5-11krpm the response became agressive, 11krpm onwards the response is like unleashing its power..

cant remember before PC3 was it like that.. must try freak's bike to know the diff..

so freak, can i try ur bike??? ;) and i mean really try it....

Yups 600 and 400 got some difference. That 'spot' on 600 cannot feel one. The force is strong on a 400. On a Class 2 bike, the 'unedited' position of the TPS will cause some jerky effect when changing gears. So most ang mos will adjust that to eliminate that + a little more power to the bike. FC will be affect a little.

Adjusting it to zero, do you mean center line? coz in dealer mode, it will show how the TPS respond. Center is normal. The idea is to adjust it to center line (idiling) and upper line (moving at certain RPM). I think I came across TPS adjustment via PCIII which is different from the adjustment directly. The manual way seems to do a better job.

I did experience the jerking at 4th gear b4 i did the TPS adjusment. After adjusting i dun quite notice it but it is still there.

I think installing an XTRE would help ah. That way u would always be in gear 5 mapping throughout.

From my PC3 USB, i set the TPS to 0 while idling and 100 while not idling (coz need to full lock the throttle, cant do it while the engine is running). PC3 and PC3 USB is a total different adjustment of TPS.

oh thet jerky, i eliminate that thru bypassing the O2 sensor.

Dont worry dont worry, definitely wont try it in SG, try while not in SG..you can ride my bike... :)

Just chipping in my $0.02 worth...

My tuning and dyno run is done by Racewerks as well.

Bike config is my Giannelli pipes, stock CR9E plugs, stock air filter (both new), O2 sensor disabled and PAIR valves disabled.

See my chart:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v361/tlrwildcard/Blog%20pics/gsr600.jpg

Most of the flat spots have been smoothed out. But a noticeable dip appears after 13K. So its adviced to me to not accelerate beyond 12K RPM as I will not be using any more power.

Power-wise, I could prolly push for more. But then the ride would not be as fun. Torque-wise might be a bit boring.

So I got a reasonable compromise in between.

Butt-dyno wise, the bike literally jumps on acceleration if I really WOT it correctly. The torque really shows when you gas it out of a corner or on a straight. Jerkiness is largely gone except for the normal chain slack reaction.

Fuel economy is largely unaffected. Still able to reach 240-250 km per full tank (before the 2 litre reserve) as was when I first bought the bike.

However, it must be noted that when I put in a K&N filter after the dyno, my FC was quite affected. Able to only hit 220-230 km before reserve.

I'm now back to a stock filter while waiting to remap the bike for a K&N and iridium plugs. Also considering an XTRE for the fun of it.

Need fabrication? Just ask dzal. Kheheheheh... Plus he could even thread a hole so u can mount the lights easily. I dun see any harm in mounting at the forks. Just that the wires will be unsightly and u gotta cover it up when in singapore roads.

Dunno la.

Market not good recently.

So being cautious right now.

Yes. Tat time I was doing dyno, just changed to new Conti RoadAttacks.

Can really see a thin layer of rubber melting off the centre after the whole dyno run.

So recommended to your dyno just changing tyres.

Or try persuading the shop to change to any used botake tyres they have that they are about to discard.
