This device is actually a standalone GPS receiver which can display your speed using GPS tracking when travelling(More accurate than our stock speedo!). You can use it as a GPS speedo meter which works without connecting any sensor cables to your bike. It also record your GPS location and tracks which you can upload to the some online map to see where you have gone. It does not need any laptop or pda or hp to work.

On top of that, as you mentioned, you can pair with other devices to make it work as a GPS receiver for GPS software on your laptop, PDA, HP, etc.

For more tech specification check this out. http://www.mainnav.com/download/MG-950D%20data%20logger%20manual--new.pdf

Maybe someone can buy then I can borrow to calibrate my speed hahaha. Coz in the long run, will become like white elephant.

The only concern is the weather. It does not indicate that its waterproof. Anyway from my experience, if the LCD is not heat proof, its the 1st to go under the hot sun.

Yups and paring with phone and this thing will be like running 2 equipment at one time. A gps unit does the job well or even better. I believe GPS unit can do logging as well. I think bro flaeron can answer this question.

A logger is enough as you can always check back at home how fast you are going and use something like a speedohealer to correct the issue. Most GPS cum phone can do that. That is only my 1 cent.

Feature:

- Store up to 130,000 waypoints

- Large backlit LCD display and Touch pad

- SiRF Star III GPS chipset. Warm start 38sec, cold start 42 sec

- Calculates precise speed, location while biking

- Record track-logs of sport activities or vehicle movement

- User can select among Google earth, Satellite or Hybrid to show the track

(eg. http://www.everytrail.com/view_trip.php?trip_id=47025, http://www.gps-tour.info/en/tracks/detail.22568.html)

- Reads NMEA data from GPS

- The data can be saved as KMZ, CSV, GPS and NMEA for several applications.

- Transmission data via USB and Bluetooth

- Lightweight and compact. Suitable for hiking, biking and walking

- Build-in rechargeable Li-Ion battery provides up to 17.5 hours of operating time.

- The rechargeable Li-Ion battery can be easily replaced with Nokia BL5c battery

- Weather Proof IPX6

- Snap it into bike mount

I thought this device is good because it lets you check your speed in realtime... simply to say... it's a plug and go speedo meter.

"Most GPS cum phone can do that." Can you concur that it will last more than 5 hours on the road when going touring? Most "HP cum GPS" drains battery like crazy... the most it will last is half a day when operating with GPS. Unless you have 12V charging port for charging on the go... but it's inconvenient.

Anyway... one man's meat is another's poison. I just find that this is kinda nifty gadget. Considering its priced at Rm290 = est. SGD135 for a GPS device + Plug-N-Go speedo. There are people who wants to use GPS devices for tracking their speed only but not for navigation... so this is the "cheap" device they can go for.

I do not think that it is inconvenient to do a line for charging. If not then all the GPS charging unit via bike's battery would have been a nightmare to install and they will just decide to go ahead with a portable battery.

If add a bit more, you can get a basic GPS unit; Garmin eTrex® H (https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=8705#), with a trusted brand. Last check this unit cost S$180.

Honestly, I know Garmin is world renowned name for GPS product... but I dun really care about brand... I go for functionality. Sometimes, I give favors over non-branded goods.

Anyway, in more detail comparison with the eTrex, I rather go with the MainNav. Do a more concise comparison on both products and you'll see why. I dun want to elaborate further.

Hi all, need to clarify something.

1) What is the normal idling for GSR 400? i refer to previous post, same say 1300rpm and some say 1000rpm.

2) My bike's idling is below 1000, sometime around 800++ (even my bike's temperature around 83), is it consider too low? Cos when pull the clutch at 2nd or 3rd gear during taffic jamed, my bikes always switch off automatically.

3) If my bike need to adjust the idling and do the tuning, roughly what is the cost?

Hope seniors can give me comments and suggestions. Thank you.

Hi, Juz took my bike last Wednesday, my bike was oso like that when i 1st took out, went back bike shop n they adjust the idle to 1100rpm..

So no problem now and it's FOC. Only problem now is there are some squeaking sound coming from the bottom part when riding, suspect is the chain loose..

I doubt its the chain ah bro. From my almost a decade of riding experience. Squeaking noise its most probably u ran over mickey mouse and he is still stuck there. Khehehehe...

Serious note, lube up all joints. From the monoshock to the swingarm linkage as well. Look for any rubbing parts.

It is in my list of "things to buy" when I have extra monies. :D

Where to buy tank bra.. Thinking of getting 1...

Motoworld has them, but call them first to check their stock before going down. They dun bring in many Bras for GSR... so they may not have stock left.

Another friendly advice.

If possible and within budgetary means, try choosing a material that is not so hot after extended riding.

Titanium sure looks nice and strong but first few owners ever mentioned its too hot to touch during a ride and has consequences for pillions. Same goes for stainless steel.

Too bad no CF for Yoshi. Aluminium also not bad and not too hot.
