when im slow in change gear, especially from 3rd to 4th.. and the rpm drops until very low.. the pick up suddenly increases when the rpm is 5-6 compared to maybe 3 to 4000rpm... almost feels like got "vtec" open :cheeky:

or the torque significantly increase? i understand certain bike have different power at diff bandth but mine doesnt feel gradual

if this information has been posted before already, please forgive this repost, haven't been through all the pages on this forum. was looking for info to tune away the snatchiness.

have been reading up abit on this. the ang mohs call it the "herky jerky", can google for it. supposed problem with Suzuki FI models?

apparently what happens is when engine speed is above 4k rpm and you close the throttle, the injectors go into "off" mode. when rpms drop below 4k, the FIs turn on the injectors in "idle" mode. if you close the throttle above 4k rpm then open up again, the injectors take a second or so to turn back on, and they discharge fuel at the "now" position on the throttle. So it causes the bike to surge at that point, when the fuel injectors suddenly pump in the fuel dependent on the current throtle pos.

supposed fix is to adjust the TPS so that the TPS indicator in dealer mode is just at the top position when the throttle is at the "idle" position. this makes it such that the ECU never sees the TPS at "idle", hence, never ever shut the injectors off as in the above scenario. which eliminates the throttle lag and snatch.

according to info off the net, it was done this way for emissions purposes.

http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185499&highlight=jerky

was trying to fix that when i was doing a throttle body synch. problem is the TPS sensor is apparently blocked by the frame on the gsr4. cannot get to the torx screw without unbolting the throttle bodies and removing it. anyway, after the throttle body synch (cyl 1 and 2 were way off), engine became much smoother at idle. :D really love riding it now.

manual was a little deceptive, says there are balance screws, but all there are are idle air screws.

just to share, left is pre-TBS, right is post-TBS.

edit: if looking for EBC, perhaps can try http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/EBC-HH-Sintered-Pads-for-Suzuki-GSXR600-SRAD-FA158HH_W0QQitemZ300328256129QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item45ecf58281 at today's exchange rate, approx 100sgd with shipping.

Very informative. This is what I am looking for. I realised it too whenever I change gear the RPM goes very fast to idle speed and when on the next gear, I will get a surge effect when i open up my throttle. Thank you so much for the effort.

eh, i haven't tried removing the TB yet, too much of a headache already that one. my TPS is fine afterall, just outa synch TBs is all. I just followed the manual. actually, it's fine if you don't close your throttle entirely when you clutch in. it's only when you close throttle all the way from above 4000rpm, that the injectors get turned off.

i might take a look when i decide to do valve clearance. but that's in another 10-15k km.

nps, it was annoying me for awhile too, thought it was TB problem, went to google, and learnt alot. trick i suppose is to not shut off throttle entirely i suppose.

but i haven't been riding this bike for long, still learning.

Relax dude.

I've been in this group forum since late 2006. Back then, there were no DIY sessions. Only meet up, eat, ride around. There were a few occasions where DIY was being organized but they were breif unlike Bone's which can last the whole day! :)

I wanted to fix LEDs on my bike so i went about and asked the guys (earlier ones), nobody entertained me. One even discouraged. So what did i do? Learned it myself! Burnt a few fuses, dismantled the tank and wondering how to fix back. Mind you, i only had the japanese manual and had to rely on translating the pictures..

Now, they have english manual meant for the 600 but its just as useful. Some of the guys still take the effort to answer your queries so take it easy..

Hi fellow GSR bros,

I can sense that there's a small dispute here, I personally think that it's not fair to close the thread immediately or issuing infractions pts to prevent more burning flame,But if this argument goes out of control then it leaves me no choice, and just think that (if) there is some new member who just bought a GSR recently and wanted to know more ,saw whatever replies we have here, would leave a bad impression,Right? nevertheless i would appreciate that we maintain our harmony just like before.
