Hey Wanzero... more power to you... do read up on the wiki (setup to help newbs) http://www.vesporeanfaq.wikispaces.com

Enjoy.

thanks sharpey.

seems like i am paranoid about my scoot and the noises it makes sometimes.

is leaking transmission oil normal? every morning i see an oily patch below the engine near the wheel and if i were to run my fingers around the oil drain plug at the bottom i get a drop or two of oil. always.

any fix for that?

get new gaskets??

but if the leaking is not too bad, u could probably leave it alone....

just be sure to change EO every 3-4 mnths just in case

-= Unsure of what to get=-

could also be your oil drain plug o-ring (the sealing washer) that has worn out...

Also, if your engine is really dirty, when the muck heats up it will drip from the engine... clean her up and see if it continues...

no worries narcx... I meant the outside... try and get rid of all the road grime and oil... and then monitor if you still have oil dripping when you park...

ive cleaned the outside once... used petrol and washed all the muck off. after a while it came back. my tire and rim on the engine side is perpetually covered in what looks like dust and oil/petrol whatever. i wonder if my carb is spilling petrol or something.

Yeah it does come back... the Vespa engine is a dirty beast... Clean it every time you clean your scoot if you want it to stay looking somewhat clean.

Gaskets are basically pieces of special paper that get sandwiched between metal surfaces... eventually these can tear/wear/crack etc and need replacing... mind you, by the time this happens you'll need an engine rebuild anyway...

Yeah Cephelix... the powdercoat doesn't like the sun's rays... that's why... I guess you could re-coat/spray it if you wanted... you'd want to dismantle the shock first though... We want pics!

ok i think i didnt phrase my sentence properly.. i meant which gaskets must i change?

was cephelix referring to the oil plug o-ring as a gasket or is there another one i have to change?

wanzero... it really depends where you go... both here and in malaysia there are good places and better places... Malaysia will be cheaper though :) that you can count on. Anyway, what exactly are you planning to do in this 'revamp'?

Oh, for the oil plug its just an o-ring... no other gaskets, unless the leak is coming from somewhere else...

but read few thread they said that some shops arent that good in wiring all that stuff...thanks for the info....thereslot of things basically, its an FA plate, think its 1980+ not sure..nvm about that..my plan was, to fixx all the lights(all not functioning except the headlight) fix the front brake, fix the gear(jerk when changing) and repaint....alot of stuff but the engine had been changed to a new one...that bike was bought at only 150...

I degrease my engine using WD40 or an engine degreaser, sand it clean with a soft sandpaper and rub it shiny with autosol. The muck effectively stays away. :thumb:

so it doesnt get dirty again say in a month? hmm.... i always suspected something was causing the dirt to stick all over the engine. like an oil leak or something

Hey guys. I'm new here, Am from Malaysia(KL). Has been planing to make a trip to Singapore for quite sometime. I'm currenly riding one of those Vespa Super 8" wheels model. But there's an alternative to it. Just put in a bracket in the middle of the rims to convert it from a 8" to 10". For my case, I've been swaping between the two sets of rims for diffrent rides. Usualy i'll keep my 8" when i'm in town, and swap for 10" when i'm going long distant.

Hope to meet up with you guys one of these days. Hope to get some help from you guys aswell about riding my Vespa into Singapore.

Time for a bigger bike....

i have rode an 8 " before, if you wanna chill ride and don't mind the slow riding, then its fine, and of course for short distances.i once rode my 8'' wheeler from town all the way to tampines, it felt like forever ..hahaha..but best if you using it for commuting around singapore, best you go fo 10''

:: hey there, lads... RBGC won't be able to make it to this Friday's meet... but quite a handful of fellow independent vespa and gilera lads are up for it. let's just have a get-along-getting to know session with the rest who can make it... it'll be a good time for our new forumers here to link up. we'll hook up at someplace to chill and have dinner (after working hours) then off to a ride and such... should expect the same ol' meet, gather, mingling and ride to nowhere nonsense... hahaha~! what say you, people? suggestions, please. cheers~

ps: if the majority can't make it in the last minute... we can postpone it to a later date. there is always a next time. ::
