quote was from TA. bike is pretty much done by them. i no they over price, but 50%

dunno wat happen le. pumped petrol last nite then added amount of 2T according to the measuring cup. was riding on the third lane then all of a sudden engine just died, rear wheel lock, fish tail. clutched in, and rolled to the road shoulder. tried starting but couldn't. towed to TA, opened up, could see the scratch markings on the inside of the block. also saw that my crankshaft had been cut before and 1 of the ports cut as well (think it was carb intake to engine). Mr wee said to rebore the block, and change the piston which was goin to come up to 160. abt 2 hrs later, auntie soh called me and said that the block couldn't be rebored again had to change, they had a 2nd hand 1 lying ard so that would work up to 210. but i was wondering to my self, since i'm already at this pt do i want to change to alloy.

urgently need advise.

riding a px200

engine seized this morning. block cannot be rebored(bored too many times already). need to change block and piston.

1. 2nd hand block with new piston($210)

2. pinasco alloy block and piston($630)

pls advise/recommend.

currently on highway feel like the bike is maxed out.

1. hope to get somemore power if possible and reduce vibrations.

2. will alloy block increase the vibrations for the px200?

3. will there be much a diff in comparison to stock block and piston?

4. is the power gains justified by the cost?

5. will low speed vibrations increase?

basically looking at highway riding more then city riding. (70% highway)

Just change to malossi last week on my PX150,($400+),a lot of different compare to stock. Good pick up top speed easily reach 110.Vibration at 90km/hr reduce a lot compared to stock.Just check with my mech today on PX200 price, he said both about the same price now(not more than $500) but pinasco tends to vibrate more and consume more petrol.

Ooo Malossi :cheeky: I wonder what's the main difference between Malossi and Pinasco. Most Singaporeans use Pinasco. Which shop was that? :)

Engine just died... did the revs go up rapidly before this happened?

Did Mr. Wee open up your engine? I.e split it in half?

Its true that a stock block can only be rebored 3 times (if i recall correctly)...

The pinasco costs about 400.... so maybe you were quoted higher since your engine case was opened etc... Can you clarify?

who's your mech xysurvey? malossi normally more ex than pinasco...

pnasco is the better kit for our local use... the malossi wont work properly unless its ported correctly... also its a very high revving kit that wont have as much lowend torque as the pinasco...

eerrmm....actually i wasnt the 1 riding it that that pt of time. but at 80km/hr(agar ration as speedo not working) the bike usually feels maxed out. saw the piston and block, piston wont go into block now. not inclusive of piston rings. block was already 67.something mm liaoz.

pinasco was 480 then add workmanship another 50 = 530(i'm sure i heard 630). pretty much half of the engine was opened up. i ended up deciding on the stock block and piston just for 1 reason, electric start. it was 350 excluding parts that needed to be changed and workmanship. :(

AJ,the reason why same price is because malossi can support my 20/20 card well and come with all the jet setting as a package.I can't tell you much about pinasco but malossi has great trottle respond on all 4 gears compared to stock.Feel much safer now when pulling away from traffic lights and over taking on expressway.

Regarding lowend torque,I have learn something from my mech. Either I go on low bend on first 3 gear and drag the forth up to high bend(slow pick up) or Go to high bend(listen to the engine sound) from First gear(more enjoyable riding).FC so far increase to 23/L as compared to 25-26/L on stock.

XYsurvey... the malossi and pinasco kits for the 200 and the 150 are not the same...

On the 200, the pinasco is the better option because it doesn't require major alterations to the casings to work optimally...

On the 150, the pinasco and the malossi can both be "plug & play" without work to the casings.... The malossi on the 150 is cast iron (like stock)... the Pinasco is alloy...

I don't know much about 150's....

Tempted to spend the money for disc brake and folk. But how about the suspension,I know Bitubo cost $400+ each.

bitubo front about 350... but with the PXDisc setup, the stock pxdisk shock is ok...

If you want a more stylo look, then go JB and get a skipper fork conversion...

Hi guys, what tires are you currently using? i read in the scooterbbs that continental zippy1's are really good. not sure if they have them here though.

any suggestions for a tire thats grippy in the dry and wet?

dont even mention bt39ss battalax. those are intended as mini motard race tires and are really bad for wet weather!

bitubo is the shock and spring rite? to do a px drum to px disc conversion is sufficient? and just curious, can enlighten on the skipper fork conversion? i no a skipper sitting ard doin nothing.

narcx... then battalax really aren't all that bad... Sure its a race tyre and doens't have the kind of water dispersion as a wet weather tyre... but with one on the front I've never had a slip (rain or shine)... On the back however, I agree, you need a super sticky and grooved tyre to keep it from sliding in the rain... Michelin S1 also can... try shop along desker road...

Yup dodobird... the bitubo is a shock (damper + spring)...

The PX disc conversion should come with a sebac front shock (stock on all pxdiscs).. this is a good shock...

The skipper conversion involves taking your scoot up to JB and having Ali the Wizard fit a skipper fork into your px... Basically, you keep your stock handlebars, and a front disk brake mastercylinder (the brake fluid container) is grafted on.... The stock PX fender will not fit on the skipper fork though, so you'll have to dig the looks of the skipper one... Actually I've seen a few that look pretty good once painted up...

The other alternative is an ET8 fork conversion (a bit more involved) but allows you to keep the stock fender...

If you want to come along up to JB and look see...I'll be going again in a couple of weeks...
