Why bikers feel sleepy on long rides - can be one of these reasons:-

1) Exposed to bright sunlight for many hours - need to wear sunglasses.

2) Getting dehydrated without realising - must drink lots of water at every stop.

3) Did not have enough sleep previous night.

4) The helmet design also play a important part - if there's no ventilation opening on the helmet top to allow air to go inside the helmet - then the heat inside helmet is trapped and accumulating; person will feel sleepy & even headache.

Its just my view , I might be wrong. But definitely its very dangerous to be sleepy while riding bike.

Well I also had little rest the night before, which was the main reason for my exhaustion at the early part of the ride. Notice I decided to go all out afterwards because that keeps my alertness at a high level. Nothing still beats falling asleep for half a second and coming to myself and finding I am in the oncoming lane.

And we were pretty much drinking at every stop, though I think Candy totally missed her drinks haha. And yeah, what is up with that helmet? You have to go through 100 minutes each lesson with it, you know, when you finally get to your 2B.

Nothing to feel sorry about Tim, we have to be evil on our first trip out even to ourselves so we know the toughness and realize the importance of what is needed on such trips. The only thing I was unprepared for was the length of the ride only, and the lack of sleep.

just changed my spark plug cable hope all problems gone

I have seen they used this for cars diagnostic , not sure bikes also can. The mechanic holds a probe (induction coil) & touch each of the spark plug cable while engine is running. A light indicator at the end the probe will flashes to show that electricity is flowing into the plugs. This diagnosis determines whether the coil or CDI as well as the sotong cables are functioning well.

I wonder they did that for your bike? Coz some mechanics will ask you to replace this parts & that parts , one by one until the problem is solved - especially if they dun have the proper diagnostic equipments.

Hope the problem will be resolve this time.

Today I was parking my Boldor at the Chong Pang coffee shop front pavement when a guy called me -you tt right? I smiled, said ya, your nick is? Seems my bike so noticable nowadays. So this guy 's name is Yong59, with Black Boldor , mostly hanged out West side threads...

Nice friendly chap, had a chat about our bike performance etc. He told me he ordered from Motorworld something to remove rpm limiter. The reason why is because he usually travel at average 190km/hr, just at the edge of red zone. Sometimes the needle touches red & bike stalls momentarily. Something for me to consider.

He also said his fuel consumption is 380km before hitting reserve. And to prove his point, he showed me his mileage showing 130km and the Level indicator still show full tank!!! I told him many Boldorians are complaining about poor consumption in the threads.

I asked him whether he installed any fuel saving electronic stuff inside, he said absolutely nothing. No revtec, no grounding, no iridium whatever. I asked did he send his bike for carburetor balancing or re-tuning before - answer was no. But he told me he using Mobil 1 full synthetic since day one. He had been using Mobil 1 for his previous ride version S without problems.

Think I must switch to this Mobil 1 too. If this doesn't help in my FC, I 'll send for carburetor balancing & tuning at Loois Motor. Which is the place he bought his bike. Coz Loois got the most high tech tuning machine in Spore.

Green growth sounds like algae.

FC has nothing to do with fuel. FC always has to do with bike riding habits. I think this is something lots of riders do not realize or understand. Also, my mileage shows 130 and full tank, but drops to 4th bar at 180. The thing is never accurate.

Today I went to Looi"s Motor at 4pm to see Meng Tong regarding why my FC is so chia lat compared to Yeong59's. Only 19km/liter compare to his at least 25km/liter. Paid $20 for him to use his high tech computerised tuning machine to check my carbon monoxide level in my exhaust pipe. Also checking my torque & horsepower etc. So he move the bike into a sound proof room, strapped the bike, clamped the front wheel, allow the rear wheel to rest on a huge roller. Starts the engine & slowly increase the rev to max 11k, whereby the rpm limiter cuts in. He also engage the gear and allow the rear wheel to revolve on the roller at max speed.

After the whole thing finished, his tuning machine generated a computer printout showing my bike torque & power, which I can compare to the manufacturer's original spec. It was showing a normal 56bhp at 11,000rpm. He recommends me to remove the rpm limiter by buying something from Motorworld, coz the power or torque can increase some more. Guess Yeong59 is right, I have to go there again.

He also conclude the engine air /fuel combustion is OK. No need for carburettor balancing. Fuel air ratio is OK no need to adjust, no need for engine tuning. Coz Carbon monoxide level is below 7% which is the max limit. The CO is within 4- 6% throughout the rpm range even at 11k rpm. He showed me other brand of bikes are worst performer , like a Fazer 1000 's tuning report which show 10% CO at high rev.

Final conclusion from him is that nothing can be done about my FC. Its just that different S4 engine has different FC. Not all the same. Nothing is wrong with bike. Perhaps Panther is right , its just my riding style.

Sorry but i don agree with this...

i think it is better to cover the distance with lesser stop is better ...

If we stop too many time it will cause us to have a longer travel time on the road....

which will make us even more tired..

I try on my first ride to KL i stop on every pertrol station and R & R for coffee on my way there it take me about 6 hour to reach KL...

and it is much more tired than the 2nd time i go only stop one time and take about 3.5 hour to reach KL when i reach i still very fresh...

If we stay too long on the road will make us more tired.....

All the Way with only a few stop better.... and stop at place we are to go and have a good rest there better than every 30 min rest....

jus like going for running once u stop u lose the will to go.....

Tim, nice pix... hope to join you guys next time round.

Also, regarding the FC of our bold'Ors it really is quite frustrating to hear people hitting 380++ before reserve whereas for mine, it barely touches 240 before fuel gauge starts to blink. I mean, how come theres such a huge difference even though same engine? Don't tell me our riding styles are really so different in normal city riding? There just isnt a logical explanation to me...

I have these foglights installed by the way, and I find them to be very useful in terms of certain night rides overseas. Being the first to install them makes me feel proud. :cheeky:
