Very interesting discussion here. This ang mo guy seems to be a electrical engineer studied the wiring schematics of Revtec & declared the Revtec website claims to be untrue & technically impossible.

He even offer to pay for a dyno test for one of the bikers - before & after Revtec installation. Very interesting reading.

Don know whether they will still test or not....

the dealer of Revtec don wan to test it ....

2 hrs ago, around midnite, I was stopped at Woodlands Ave 12, during a TP road block with my glowing LEDs switched on. Guess what happen? I was let off without a summon.

After showing my license & insurance for a standard check, the sergeant asked me to switched on my LEDs again & call his boss to see if got violation. His boss replied its OK & waved to ask me to go. But the sergeant then remarked it is actually illegal to modify the lightings. My reply was that the LEDs are for safety because of better visibility , especially when I travel at nite in congested traffic.

So all these myths about illegal LEDs will be fined $50 each is untrue. Guess I'll be switching them on as usual every nite from now on; till I get fined one day.

i guess it really depends loh... maybe his boss is giving you chance cos he lazy to go back and write summon report...

if you are going to keep the LEDs on... do let us know if you gotten any further warning/enforcement action...

i wanted to do some lightings also... agree that it increase viability at nite... cos i was coming home from hatyai on Mon nite and before the ipoh tunnel. the viability was so low cos the fog was quick thick, road was water and slight downslop with corners... i was actually a bit worry that there are some hell drivers will bang me from the rear after one SG plate WRX push pass me at high speed...

I think as long as LEDs doesn't blinks ; its not distracting to others - TP will close 2 eyes. The glowing LEDs are similar to the signal & rear lights - always switched on only.

Only problem many people always smile & stare at me at traffic lights. Some people may thought I am attention seeking type. People don't realise I only switched on LEDs when travelling at nite in congested traffic. Can be a bit embarassing at times.

actually, i am not sure about this...

my FZ1 have 2 pilot lights which i changed to blue colours to match my blue bike... :cheeky: but was told that it is illegal also and will get fine...

so i changed to white LED, which i was told that it is illegal also... :faint:

anyway, now that I have installed 2 side panniers (more touring to come!), thinking of fixing 'mobile' LEDs on the panniers so that go touring that time can use... SG fine is so heavy... dun want to risk it here... kekeke...

just came back on Tue morning... sleep, wash bike on Tue and yesterday come back to work already... still dun have time to process the pics... you can check out the thread by kennyseaw. not sure if anyone uploaded anything already...

actually I read the LTA by-laws regarding lightings modification - on paper any sort of lighting modifications is illegal. Some one posted a link in SBF to it.

But thank God, TP nowadays seems to be more flexible & dun really follow to the dot blindly. Coz they are also bikers. They only use this law to catch those cars & bikes who modify the lightings to extremes - flashing strobe lights, blinking LEDs ; which distract other motorists. This is just my feeling; I might be wrong.

Personally I feel that my LEDs makes me more visible to other motorists only; improving my safety factor & confidence . Especially when I had to squeeze between very slow moving traffic at nite in CTE for long stretches for example. Cars sometimes change lane if they dun notice the bikers coming in between lanes.

.................................

Btw if you thinking of LEDs, you can ask them to fasten it using heavy duty velco stripes instead of 3M mounting tapes. So they can be removable easily. And they must provide sockets / connectors for each modular block of LEDs. So can unplug them individually easily in case need to dismantle the tank / fairing / pannier for repairs / servicing etc. Tell the electrician up front - no joining of wires by twisting & black tapes - must use connectors & crimping the wires to the connectors.

yah, thats what i intend to do, with velco... most likely will DIY since that will give me better control on where to mount and what dimensions to make...

mine from Dr Guru. But still have to stipulate clearly the special requirements regardless is motorworld or Dr guru. Cost me $80 or $70 (can't remember) - LEDs plus headlight switch , 1 hr plus job only.
