Hello guy isit worth to buy a new bike now?

I would say no.... unless a good offer comes along. Interest recently went up especially Japanese bike.

my interest was 2.8% 5 months back now is 4.2% even for new bike.

Be sure to check the various bike shop for interest.

U change a new bike unless u planned to ride long, i guess.

End of the day, u the boss of the show

I believe you might be able to buy just the "glass" (if I'm not mistaken, it's actually a plastic material) from Boon Siew. Only problem is that you probably have to wait for it to arrive from Japan. Mr. Neo who manages the motorcycle parts department is quite helpful. I just placed an order for the chromed bolt covers for the handle-bar clamp. He said ETA about two months :)

Hopefully your meter glass is just cracked rather than broken in pieces. If it happened to me and Boon Siew confirms can just buy the replacement glass, I would just use clear silicon to seal the crack for the time being. Come to think of it, you can even repair a broken piece with silicon sealant.

It's unsightly for awhile but beats having to spend a few hundred bucks for a new meter assembly.

This is an update on the issue first mentioned here.

Since replacing the battery, the needles still sweep around the meters on ignition. This persisted throughout the 2 weeks before my trip (see below). However, I had no problem starting the bike on first crank everyday.

I went on a trip with some mates last weekend. We started the trip at night and it was quite a cool ride (for ambient temperature reference). This is the first chance I had to “test” my Revo since buying the bike a few weeks ago, so I decided to run it at higher speeds. After about an hour plus of riding between 165-185km/h on the NS Highway, the oil pressure light came on. Then the meters died, i.e. digital info like trip meter, fuel gauge and clock went blank. Both RPM and speedo needles then went to zero and the bike began to stutter.

Point to note is that I have done these over the few weeks prior to the trip:

 • Flushed radiator. Filled with fresh coolant (ESSO)
 • New battery
 • Grounding
 • New engine oil + X1-R oil additive
 • New spark plugs (normal Denso)
 • New air filter
 • New chain and sprockets set

Other than the needles sweeping on ignition, I thought the bike should be good to go.

While parked on the emergency lane we checked the usual suspects (coolant leaks, fuses and etc.) and could not detect any obvious faults. Tried to jump-start by connecting the battery to a truck battery. It started but once the cables were disconnected, the bike died shortly after. That only meant that either the rectifier or alternator (magnet coil) or both had failed. Long story short, this is the cause:

Burnt Magnet Coil.jpg

Note that the rectifier is ok. With a new magnet coil installed, the meter needles now do not sweep around on ignition.

OMG lets all sign a petition for a recall. mine also has the double sweep. btw are u going to call up boon siew to screw them? i hope you do. exhaust ur warranty bro. claim for whatever repair costs needed. update us, anyways bro did u find ur bike extremely hot on the right side riding at high speeds? when i went to kl, riding speed, 170-200, the right side is unbearable, to be exact the part where the coolant reservoir is, too hot to the extent when i arrived at kl, changed to shorts, my right thigh was abit burnt. super red, mind you i was using komine track pants.

Mine is 3 years old and has done 63k km already so its no longer under warranty with Boon Siew. If your bike is still under warranty and it has the 2nd-sweep-on-ignition issue I suggest you bring it up with Boon Siew.

Anyway, my bike is under an informal 2 months warranty with the bike shop I bought it from so I didn't have to pay anything to replace the coil. Burnt $450 for towing back to Singapore though. I saw the invoice from FJT and the cost was $312 (coil $280 + $12 for the gasket + GST). I reckon if I had to pay for it, total bill would have been about $360-$380 inclusive of labour.

I only managed to ride for slightly more than an hour and it was a cool night, so I didn't notice any extreme temperatures on my thighs.

BTW, you managed to do 200kmh? Do you mean your speedometer needle went past the 190 mark and extended by another 10 on the scale?

Sorry to hear that, as usual Ah Pek was correct again the coil is the problem. SO ALL REVORIANS brace yourselves and keep asking Boon Siew to replace while you still have warranty.

Thanks for sharing Ram snake, this is most vital information.

All REVORIANS please fault sharing is crucial, hope to see you guys step forward and we can bring Boon Siew DOWN!!!! haha just kidding

hi all

what is your fuel consumption for revo? what brand of petrol do you use?

and

any bike shop to recommend for servicing and/or change of parts?

please help. (:

FUEL consumption for me 270 full tank. Depend on Distance

Using fuel 98 twice upon empty and V-power on the third time. Using 98 because the engine needs a bit of carbon. Constantly using V-power will be harmful as its TOO CLEAN as they say.

Use your original bike shop for the servicing if you purchase from them (buy some PR) change parts can try Planet at UBI or even AH PEK. These are people i trust. Theres one at AUtoBAy Kaki Bukit quite a few old man shop before Unique they are also ok.

Anyways to many shops to list just check prices before hand to know you are not CONNED

You're welcome! :)

Only 270km? What do you mean by "full tank"?

Just did a quick calculation and I guess this is what you mean: With full tank of petrol, ride until reserve indicator comes on and refill at next nearest station will get you about 270km. Is that right? That would be about 20km/ltr...

I was initially surprised because I had expected the range to be at least 320-350km before completely dry.

Eh? Where did you get this from, bro? Clean is good leh...

I pump V-power most of the time unless I'm on a long trip and can't be too choosy.

@GothRod is right about "buying PR". Just to give you an idea, the bike shop I bought my bike from has already given me about $2k worth of FOC parts and service. And I insist they use Honda OEM replacement parts on my bike. I'll stick to them for the time being as my bike is still under "warranty". Later on, I would probably choose between Looi's or Motoworld.

There is no separate reserve tank on our bikes. When there is approximately 4 litres of fuel remaining in the tank, the reserve indicator comes on. You will see you fuel gauge scrolling from right to left continuously.

BTW, scroll a few pages back where I posted a link to the owner's manual.

I've been thinking about this lately and I'm quite perplexed. If you guys feel your legs getting a bit hot near the tank, how come you don't kangkang a bit (spread your legs out) to cool down? If it's hot and you continue to leave your leg there, sure will burn lah!

Seriously guys, make it a habit to kangkang regularly even when riding in Singapore. Otherwise you'll find your little swimmers getting fried as well. Lady riders not affected... :p

I was also having a nice chat with @Ah Pek the other day and one of the things we talked about are people fitting shrouds to their S4. We both think it's a bad idea as these shrouds are not designed to extract air flow from the engine. It will instead trap the hot air in that area. You might want to test out our theory by doing the same ride without the shrouds.

Where got so good deal run 320-350? Fuel injection leh.... Natural to get only 270 provided you can cos the 270 is not bad already.

Actually for 320 is u run long distance very day then can hit that 320 mark cos the consumption is Long range constant speed then save fuel. Long range whack whack whack super high consumption.

Singapore roads dont give that good transmission as red lights alot and stopping alot too.

Bingo Haikal got shrouds thats why HOT!!! Gradually increasing of speed also help to cool down. Constant full throttle heats up fast.

AS they say HONDA THE HOTTER THE FASTER.... Anyways the heat Haikal was talking about even if u Kang Kang also not use cos the heat sometimes can be extreme.

Anyways just sit back a bit and not wrap your legs around the tank

@ Ram Snake

What i meant but the carbon thingy from the fuel is common. Pump V-power all the way is good but the engine when too sparkling clean will be too much friction.

Its is Like ear wax, u cant keeping digging your ears all the time. You have to allow ear wax to form as they are actually protecting your ears.

Im not saying pump 98 all the way as well. Both are to be used moderately.

Not all the way lah, bro.

Once in a while whenever you feel the thighs getting a bit hot is enough. At the speeds you mentioned just spreading the knees out a bit, say for about 30+ secs, would cool down your thighs considerably. Then repeat when necessary. You'd probably only need to do this about 4-5 times from SG to KL...

But then again, my bike is naked... no shrouds to trap hot air... LOL

18.64

335.6km

316.95km

I remember my first tank being relatively relaxed rides as I was getting to know the bike. The 2nd tank was when I started changing gears later, say about 80% of the time after VTEC opens. These are all on Singapore roads, with only about 25% on highways.

The first "Full tank range" number is based on 18 litres full tank. However most, if not all, of us won't ride until the tank is totally empty. So, I've used 17 litres to calculate the estimated range of a "full tank". Do note that for a more reasonable/close estimate, I would usually take the averages from 5 re-fills.

GothRod, seems like your fuel consumption is quite bad man. Assuming you re-fill with 17 litres of fuel, your consumption is about 15.8km/L! SparkersS1 is also getting about 19-21km/l...

I refill 16 ltr plus and sometimes 15 litre plus. I travel very short distance so it is higher. I travel longer distance I hit about 280.. then pump petrol.

I dun let the fuel hit reserve, to avoid pumping air. I use 98 it goes up to 300. V-power abit lesser and also the fact i have a scorpion modded so there u go
