EVENT: ESR CHALET 2009 - Relight My Fire

Date: May 16 (Sat)

VENUE: GOLDKIST BEACH RESORT CHALET @ ECP

Hello to everyone who was at the Chalet/BBQ on Sat evening:

It was wonderful to see almost everyone turned up last nite's event. I hope everyone had a great time catching up on one another over the BBQ food. And we had a few good surprise turn-ups of GOHs' too - wonder to see ya' guys!

This occasion would not have been possible w/o the help of committed volunteers.

I'd like to thank Manz for doing most of the planning of this event during my absence despite his heavy work schedule. He was the orchestrator of the event, a "sou chef", "Pasar-boy" who bought most of the raw ingredients and "Transporter" - and it was a well-done job, bro!

Thanks to Joanne for helping with the "marketing" of raw ingredients, doing up a nice sign-up list and be "Ah-Long-ess" during the BBQ :p

Thanks to Ash and Qai for coming over to help with the food prep, coolie-work, "poking-work" and BBQing the delicious food.

And thanks to Spyker who came right after his work to help with last minute requests for transportation and purchases. Pai-seh to "mobilize" you last minute again la...

Not forgetting Allan & KiKi for helping to transport the chairs and buying the yummy cake for our B'day babies. Thanks to Icez & Evenlyn for setting up the cake.

Ah-Huat ah - thanks for helping to set up the chalet and raising the BBQ fire. Good thinking on the "hi-Bang, can we borrow your Da-Mar first. We return to you later." ....

Thanks to Oreo for being cam-girl (rest of the thanks I say liao in another post).

Finally, thanks to all of you who had made the effort to turn up and add to the fun. Let us continue to harness the good friendship we share over here in ESR. :cheer:

Elegantly put my brother.

Apologies for not updating the AAR of the chalet as I was stone cold on Sunday and Monday onwards busy with work...

I just have a short little thing to share.

This chalet was the blood and toil of many hands put together. We had a major hiccup yet we are still able to pull it off.

Whatever is done, let it be over. Needless to explain the why's and the how's. To all those who put in an effort to join us, I thank you from the bottom of my heart knowing that the many hands that made this possible did not go to waste.

As chao had said, let's continue with the good things that we can share in ESR. To those who missed the chalet because of other commitments, no worries, there will always be a lifetime more..

In case some who dunnoe, special thanks to Spyker for going over to the chalet personally to book it for us in the very last minute.. If not, we would never have this opportunity to gather and enjoy ourselves..

Hope to see more positive activities over here in future.. Cheers!

We are all adults.. How we live our lives is up to ourselves bro. As long as we know how to respect others living their own lives, we are also entitled to live our lives which ever way we want..

Man Saves Ducks from Building

As a senior loan officer at Sterling Savings Bank downtown, Joel Armstrong has spent a considerable amount of time helping people realize their dreams and bailing people out of financial jams at the same.

He would have never imagined that his most memorable rescue would have occurred while helping a mother duck and her recently hatched offspring down to the river on Tuesday.

"It was an amazing site; I'm an animal lover at heart," Armstrong said from his office on Thursday.

Outside Armstrong's office window one month ago he noticed the mother duck laying eggs in a cement awning, which rests 10 feet above the ground.

Those eggs hatched on Monday.

When he arrived to work the following day he observed the mother standing at the edge of the awning before swooping to the sidewalk below. What he saw next took his breath away.

"The first duckling goes to the edge and... smack. Just hits the sidewalk," he said.

Horrified, Armstrong darted out of his office and to the sidewalk below. The duckling laid motionless for about 10 seconds before regaining its senses.

The next thing Armstrong knew, all the ducklings had instinctively lined up on the ledge ready to follow the first one's lead.

Now lined up a like a centerfielder, Armstrong proceeded to shag ducks like falling baseballs from the sky with his bare hands.

"In one instance two jumped at the same time," he said.

Armstrong caught both.

"I truly think the entire time the mother duck could sense I was trying to help," he said. "She just stood there and allowed me to catch them."

But that was only half the battle.

The next step was to get them to the river. Armed with a gaggle of co-workers from the office, Armstrong and some of the Sterling Savings staff were prepared to serve as guides for the ducks to the water.

However, it was clear that between traffic, and the ducklings inability to move at an expeditious pace, it was going to be a tedious journey.

So one of Armstrong's colleagues retrieved an empty box, placed the ducklings in it and walked them to the river.

Finally, at a calm location along the river, the mother duck welcomed her newborns to a setting clearly more indigenous to their native habitat.

"It was amazing watching them jump," Armstrong said. "Could you imagine the second day of your life having to jump from a building to get home?"

☆ Baby, you're all that i need.... ☆

To know the road ahead, ask those coming back!

If this ever happen in Singapore, the ducklings will not made it to the river.... It would be kept till fully grown, and slaughtered for braised duck rice :p

Today ESR exceptionally quiet.....Hmmm....

1. Is it too tired after the happy chalet?

2. Is it too busy with work?

3. Is it too busy planning for the upcoming weekend?

Whatever it is, it's fate that bring all the ESRians altogether....I may not be the pioneer or the loudest one but I really enjoy the friendship among this group. Have a great weekend !!!
