So far...any OS other than Windows are giving me headaches.

Linux all I learn is right click, open terminal, then code random stuff which is supposed to secure it...which I don't understand.

"yum install squid" "yum install samba"...all the commands are alien to me!

haha no la its just that i encounter those cars with HID lights at night, very very glaring, makes me feel like installing one on my bike too

 

u muz unds, car glaring, at most kenna kick and dent.

 

bike too "guai l@n" (in their eyes), dunno watz e worse can happen?

 

im not saying will, but it sort of attract wrong attention while @ e same time our bikes cannot "deal" with the unwanted attention, if we need to do so.

ubuntu and fedora both free. ubuntu is more stylo milo. academic wise, u gotta check which is the one HIGHLY recommended by ur prof dou, coz they run differently, down to the system functions(forget the actual term), and u WILL get different results. so use the one ur prof is using.

 

it's basically a open source OS, favorite amongst those with "free for all" mindset, like Google, firefox, openOffice, free antivirus etc. (u can almost have a free working environment with these)

 

the system architecture is different amongst different OS, so from a developer's point of view, if u want ur application to be be able to run on different platforms, it make sense to unds how the architectures work, and thus how should u program, as u need to port ur programs over multi-platform.

 

there are lots of debates abt security of the different OS, and which ones are more efficient. i'll say end of the day still depends on the hardware architecture (duo core vs single core vs quad core/ ram size/ 32bit vs 64 bit single GPU vs multi GPU etc), the application being run (can write biase programs to screw results up VERY badly), and lastly the OS itself (efficient etc).

 

linux is more commonly used on servers as it boasts better security, or used by programmers coz it sounds way cooler to use ubuntu/ fedora! "Simi lai eh?!?!" hear ald also think something very chim.

 

Free != lousy! These days the "free" mindset is gaining momentum, good for us consumers.

i was thinking to myself that time.. if i have HID lights also..after giving way to the car behind with the bright HID lights, i will ride behind that car and glare him back.. let him have a taste of his own medicine
