thx bro for the prompt reply!!:thumb:

i'm still considering whether to buy wave or not as i travel more than 60km daily to and fro work. if i were to buy wave then i need to let go my super 4.. haizz :sian:

Couldn't agree more with the rest of the guys who shared their views.

Whatever it is, the money issue is of utmost importance. If you think riding your S4 to work and back is costly, downgrading your ride couldn't have been a better choice. Don't be pressured by friends etc that you are riding a "kup kia" and that looks like sh*t, slow lah blah blah. Cos at the end of the day its about lessening the burden on your pockets. Slowly consider and pick the best choice of what suits your lifestyle and budget.

As for me, i kept my wave for basic transportation and bought my S4 for outings, ridings etc. Like what another bro said, "best of both worlds".

Just my 2 cents worth bro! :) Cheers.

If your Wave is a S (fuel pump type), then u need to check if there is enough petrol anot.

Big is certainly a warning but small can be downright scary! Never underestimate the effectiveness of small.

sell ur super4. get a wave, save save save, den spend e savings on marriage or a superbike or for thunderstorm.

the only differences between a s4 and wave is the safety and $$ aspect, which of coz s4 is bloody much safer with its braking abilities and bigger tire contact area...

however, the similarities is that both are like chicken rice, every hawker center also have. win some, lose some, ur choice.

if money is not an issue to u, i would advice just keep the s4. i'm a poor man u see, so i'm riding a wave.

Don't bluff lah... don't u have a CBR1RR? :cheeky:

actually that ah pek guy quite famous, even my friend also talks abt him and his home blended oil pretty good according to him.

actually, can u feel the difference between mineral / semi and fully synthetic oil on ur wave? i change here and there... i dun feel any difference seriously... but of coz long term wise then the signs would show that fully syn is better as got lesser wear and tear... but i guess motul 710 or smht is good enuff, dont need the 300v coz our bike doesnt rev much anyway...

How ever the air filter was modded lah~

Just wanna check if there is any better in terms of acceleration. :cheeky:

I was thinking of using the original filter but removing all the paper filter in it and leave the wire mesh intact for a little filtration. Wonder if it works. Just to afraid to remove airbox, later after I cannot put it back properly I will be sian... :sian:

Of coz ah pek is famous in SBF S4 threads. It only boils down to individual preference.

I will not take that risk, just like I don't and won't use OWS Racing NA Engine Oil in my car. There is no viscosity rating on the tin! :faint:

But again, I won;t use cheap EO leh. I think I am just anal about it when it comes to oil and plugs.

I am using Mobil 1 0W40 for my last 2 oil change. Intend to try Motul the next round. I have used Motul 300V on my S4 before, creamy smooth sia~ :cheeky:

ya, i really liked 300v... den i swtich to castrol once i dun really like it.. den i change now to amsoil which i feel its okay also... but i really really like 300v... just tat its on a pricer side...

e following info is from mike aka Uber store in sbf...

Engine oil are made up two component.

1)Base Stock

2)Addicitives

Base stock determines the majority of the oil characteristics and performance. It also determines if the oil is true Synthetic.

Basically Base Stock comes from 5 Category

Group 1, 2 - Dino Oil/Mineral Oil.

They are never 100% purified due to cost, hence addictives are added in to provide ample protection, however they are never friendly with heat, heat is always the no.1 Killer for Engine. Oil from these group never sufficient to protect against the no.1 killer.

Group 3 - Marketed as Synthetic Oil, basically they are fake synthetic oil in my context. They use Mineral Oil, modify in the lab just so that they perform like a true synthetic oil. usually Group 3 "synthetic oil" are cheaper. But then again, due to market forces, some oil players charge exorbident price for it.

Example of such oil using group 3 base stock, Castrol, Shell etc etc.

The true Real synthetic oil uses

Group 4 - PAO

Group 5 - Ester

Oil using the above mention base stock are usually more pricey. They provide very very good protection against heat and many other damges.

What differs among these group 4 and group 5 oil are actually their base stock and clutch addictives and most importantly, how they combat acidic build up in the tranny

**engine operating under our tropical climate, produces lots of condensation, thru heat cycle acidic foam forms and can be detrimental.***

Example of Group 4 and 5 oil

Amsoil

Motul

LOL THIS IS FUNNY!

HAHAHA why of all the things in the world did you choose aquarium sponge filter to compare? :D

Yeah i removed mine before. NOT GOOD DON'T TRY. I don't recommend if you are gonna take out the whole airbox and leave your stock carb bare. The response was like crap and it destroyed my engine. Do note that the carb is faced forward and that means dirt, sand and **** will get into yr carb with ease. All you gonna get is a deep engine sound after that and maybe an engine overhaul.

I also tried taking out the filter element and leaving the air box empty. That was much better except that its not so easy to get the proper air/fuel mixture so sometimes the bike will die on idle. This will also give you a deep engine sound.

Tried using a K&N open port filter (the cone shaped one) and the response was impressive. But then again wave's stock carb is decently small so you wont really get a better top speed. The most you'll feel is a slightly better acceleration. But the downside is that you can't travel during rainy days as water will get into your open filter and carb.

But after studying a little bit about engines, i came to conclude that whatever it is a form of air filtration should be present at all times. It protects your engine from small particles that gets sucked in. The small particles are the culprits for destroying your engine in the end.

Ultimately my advice is, leave your air filters stock! hahaha. Its still the best if you wanna save fuel and maintenance cost on your trusty Wave :D

Agreed. I tried different types of engine oil too. Pretty much the same feeling on my wave. If compared to my S4, i admit there is a real difference.
