Guys, just wanted to chip in. so there wont be need to speculate, Just hope to help out people with questions. I have done mine rather recently, Late 2013. Think can find it in previous posts.

Kranji Quoted me 400. Didnt do there.

Damage = 350

Shop = Kaki Bukit

Expansion, not a replacement tank

Capacity = 11-12Litres

Material = steel

Treatment = black paint/coating outside, internal chemical coating for rust prevention (white color coating)

Features = Custom Slot for Battery

Waiting Period = Approx 1 week or lesser

Fuel Gauge = Works and accurate imho, (the gauge is mounted in the battery compartment, so its below the top most of point of the tank, therefore for the first 3-4 litres, fuel gauge shows full, only after the 3l mark, the fuel gauge starts dropping accurately in proportion to remaining fuel, when fuel gauge shows TOTALLY empty, i still have 1.5l left.) Hope you guys can understand what i mean.

You get back :

1) U box

2) U box metal bracket with the helmet hooks

Cons:

Stationary push/pull seems abit heavier, very very slightly. Most obvious is when you just pump and put in on mainstand.

Moving off, with pillion or without, no difference in power or pick up(by butt dyno)

Gas efficiency decrease by 2-3km/l, original i was hitting 50km/l roughly, now its 48km/l.

Loss of U box, but i have top box, so nevermind

Loss of helmet locks, same thing, topbox

I believe you can ask him to weld the hooks back on at additional cost.

Conclusion, For me its a well worth investment, i clock 60km a day to and from work. use to pump every 2days , scared of running out of gas in tuas. now i pump once a week.

No complains, no rust, no nothing, not obvious to tp too. so yeah.

further questions can just shoot. I will try my best to answer.

Bro xianyu87,

Many thanks for contributing to the community! :thumb:

I've got some questions to ask you - kindly refer to the pdf attachment

Honda Wave 125 parts manual - edited.pdf

could you tell specifically which part(s) is it that you got back after the operation? :confused: - cos I'll buy the stock parts that will be modified, so can revert back to stock set up... :cheeky:

cheers! :angel:

guys, i need clarification,

1) stock wave rims, can fit dunlop tt900 80/80 front, 90/80 rear?

2) Where can i get some smaller kick starter, the stock one damn annoying, sticks out too much, something like the jupiter mx kickstarter that keeps nicely inside will be good.

any price for reference, or place i can buy will be great.

3) where can i get spokes rims, racing boy, did, ride it, etc.. any major differences

Pricing and shop recommendations greatly appreciated.

4) Unique is selling yss shocks for wave under $100, any one knows if it is longer than stock? does it make the rear tyre touch ground on main stand?

Thanks in advance

Bro xianyu87,

I'll try to answer you queries...

1) should be can, cos i've been told that 80/90 is the max size that can be used - however don't take my word for it. check with lao jiao riders as well...

2) & 3)

There is a motor shop at a place called Kangkar Tebrau in JB - Its after the Pandan City place. You'll bypass a petrol station (Petron if I'm not wrong. its blue with red strips not Petronas which is green). You can go there for cheap parts.

The racing boy rims are about RM180 there, if I'm not wrong.

This shop was recommended to me by someone from the FZ16 (fazer) group.

Kindly refer to the photo - the location is the red circle...

Kangkar Tebrau shop rough location.jpg

The shop has a white empty signage on top.

This place is cheaper that Jalan Bapok a.k.a Ah Gua Lane. locals call it Jalan Susur (which is the correct term) - there the racing boy rims are 20 - 40 RM more expensive.

Difference? with racing boy rims can go tubeless... much easier if kena puncture somewhere - just put "worm" can still limp back safely. I wouldn't recommend the 3 spoke racing boy rims for heavy people though, someone I know broke the spoke when he had a harrd hit into a lobang in the road, however it is good in a sense that is is lighter... so, plus points for weight saving and handling...

4) I cannot remember if YSS are longer than stock, however, tyres won't touch the ground if bike was propped up on the main stand. Remember! Honda CB400 Super Four, Yamaha RXZ & Honda Wave 125 have exactly the same sized mountings for the rear suspension a.k.a gantong. so it is interchangable.

cheers! :angel:

btw, many thanks for the pics - at least now we have an idea what was not involved in the surgery... :clap:

from what I see, only the u-box was unaffected/unmodified. basically the fabricator just removed it and used the space for the tank expansion.

ok. liddat i just need to buy a spare original tank.

kindly pm contact details, name & address of the mech? thank you!

xianyu87,

sorry paiseh. never read your query properly.

as for spoke rims, its always better than sports rims in terms of strength - you never see scramblers and enduros in sports rims don't you? (well maybe except some like the varadero, or v-strom)

I remember someone from the cub forums saying LAB got sell racing boys rims - I've never confirmed that info before... heeh...

the only tubeless spoke rims are the enduro versions like Yamaha 1200 super tenere, BMW R1200GS, Ducati Multistrada etc etc...

as for kickstarter, again at LAB...

sorry only this much i know...

cheers! :angel:

actually hor... spokes rims is not always better la.. i use to ride drz so i did some research back then.. they just flex and bend when they hit hard bumps... so its more comfy due to the flexing, and they are less prone to crack or break like forge/cast sports rims.

http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcROkoFJCLWaw88VxAp-D9UP-5mEoxaAt-j15-syN5P2LEu1cb9DCQ

sports rim is more rigid so better power transfer.. yeah.. thats why sports rims more for road, spokes more for offroad/bumpy scenarios.. in sg roads, they seldom break or crack.. but in the case it does happen, it cracks..

different purpose ma.. but i still prefer my spokes.. hahaa...

lab arh... sian.. thought can find some shop just fit it.. way too lazy to do that.. hahahahaha..

Saw another forumer selling, but reluctant to buy cause of needing to fit it.. sian la................

xianyu87,

if you think about it, spokes more economical, in a sense cos they can use new parts to be rebuild.

but sports rims bend, or crack or broken mean gone case...

If the kickstarter bothers you, there are two options.

1) Remove the whole thing

2) Get a saw and saw off the part that sticks out so theres only maybe half of the footrest portion left. Seeing that a Wave is only 125cc, as long as you can put your foot on the kickstarter I don't think it will be a problem kicking it over. Kickstart is only a backup anyway so you won't use it much.

Posted

wah.. sawing is way too extreme la.. and removing it defeats the purpose as a back up starter.. thats why i'm looking for the slim profile chrome ones

Its possible but it's not necessary. Just keep a small bottle of chain wax under your seat. If u need to use it, put on main stand, on your engine, kick to gear 1 to roll your chains, spray it on. =) it's never been a hassle to me.
