yup. i saw their website stating that it is Jeffamines Polyethermines manufacturing facilities first production site for Huntsman in Jurong Island.

 

during the interview, they did mention that it is a new start up plant and now i am mentally and physically prepared for what to expect from a new plant.

Kinda missed those days... From construction phase to cold commissioning, from hydrocarbon in to hot commissioning to eventually starting up the units...

 

Lots of things to do... line tracing, punch listing, monitoring air blowing & water flushing, checking permanent spades @ various locations, climbing up columns to have signatures signed up there, hydro testing & not forgetting writing tons of procedures.... etc etc etc....

 

Also, lots of time to twang too... hehehe... That was abt 3yrs ago...

I need to enquire is it possible for someone with a diploma in Electronics & Computer Engineering with a major in Micro-Electronics and an experience of 2+yrs with a semi-con coy apply for a job in the oil industry as a technician or some electronics/computer related posts?

Well.... it depends I believe... Your chances will be higher IMHO if you are not looking for "electronics/computer related posts" but as a say like operations technician. Basically, that discipline don't really associate in general to this industry however electronics/electrical end products like instrument transmitter is heavy depended upon here.

You can find jobs with instrument companies like Honeywell, yokogawa, MTL instruments etc etc, dealing/servicing/installing instruments like temp/level/flow/pressure sensors/transmitters and many other stuffs.

 

They offer competitive salary ranges too. You will not be working direct under and oil company tough, but as long as its related to the industry's needs, instrument companies can be quite stable too.

Hi i wanna ask when applying for jobs in jurong island usually what are the chances of getting if you're studying part time in the related field? Seems like mine is totally zero..Kept sending but no reply..haiz..Any advice?

Depends what post you are applying for....Cos Jurong Island mostly people work on shifts...Unless those office people

Exactly... But some of my collegues managed to go for their own part time course using their own leaves... But still very difficult to cope with it ...

I have 1 year experience in the chemical line but its more to the semi con industry rather than petrochem. Thats why i'm taking the part time nitec course now. Seems like most companies don't accept.

Which company...My company those working shift work also quite a number of people studying part time also...they either report to work late or leave work early to go to class.

How long more for your course to complete? If u've just started the course chances is slim to me... But if your course is near ending, I dun think there will be any problem...

I just started my course not long only..currently taking the 2nd module only..haiz..seems like without the cert very difficult..even i got chemical experience but not related cos petrochem and semi con is different environment so i don't think they will accept right?
