Hi guys! I've been following thread for quite some time and I just have to say that my eyes are THOROUGHLY fixed and set on this marvelous machine.

I love the way it looks, the way it growls, but it's such a pity that I can only think about getting the MT-01 in 3 years time hahahaha. (My first TP is in Dec)

But daydreams aside, I would reckon in another 3 years, an advent of new developments from Yamaha's Kodo department would appear.

Other than that, I was looking through the MT website and was wondering if the Stage 1 Akra exhaust fittings are legal here.

Yo Mr Grey,

In 3 years time the MT family should be complete with the MT-02, rumoured to be powered by a differently tuned TDM engine.

I saw a red MT-01 in Yishun before, was alongside the bike on a wet and raining night, before the junction turning into Northpoint. Is the rider around here? Hi there.

haha~ actually I still ride every day & night~ just that there are too few of us in Singapore, so meeting up by chance on the road is really slim. Nowadays most of the time me ride alone :p

I go TD for the drinks & girls, so quite unhealthy hobby actually~

Hi MT Bros!

We have never gotten together for a ride...

There is a planned ride into Malaysia tomorrow with some Ducatis, and some B-Kings. Just a simple ride.

Meet up at M. A. Deen Biasa at Jalan Sultan at about 8:30. Tok some kok, drink some kopi and then head into Malaysia about 10:30 via the second link.

Not sure where in JB they want to go get the burgers, but we should not be back too late.

Anyone interested, please sms me at 81898732. I'll update you with details once they're confirmed (Jalan Sultan is definately confirmed!!)

Kenglya, Mr. Big, Living Zidiac (Manoj), Ah Fai, SubaruSTi (Alex), colz (Paolo), Lims, GiantValk, Mr. Grey, Jackie-HD all invited. Would be great to see at least a few MTs parked together. Last counted ppl that I know have MTs are 7. If you know more, invite them as well...or ask them to get in touch with me (maybe we can bulk order parts!!).

Hey all,

I thought it would be good to share some information on whats been going on with my bike... I guess that's what this whole forum is about now, isn't it?

Since I got my bike earlier this year, it's gone thru the normal servicing intervals and it's also been thru some changes.

Changes already there when I got it from MTS

1. Performance/Serviceable air filters

2. Swapped mirrors (not sure what brand. Will find out and post)

3. Customised Supertrapps

4. Swapped turn signals (not sure what brand. Again, will find out and post)

5. BMW grips.

Changes made:

1. New Label tail tidy (from Regina @ SGD200)

2. Regina gold O ring chain (from Regina @ SGD80)

3. Swapped brake lights (generic light for a scram. chopped and customised for fitting on the tail tidy from Regina @ SGD20 with workmanship from 123 @SGD15)

I had managed to crack my exhaust ring cover on Sunday, the 26th Oct and had thought I was in for a nightmare to get a replacement part. Someone told me that the rings only came in pairs and that HL were selling them at about SGD300 a pair.

Did abit of searching, and went to Auto Cycle at Serangoon Rd (right opposite St George Rd) and they could order 1 piece for me. Approximate cost would be SGD70, but the catch was that the part would only come in at the end of November.

Checked the internet and found that Chong Aik (Deskar) is also a distributor for Yamaha parts. Went to them, paid SGD72 and I got my replacement ring in 15 minutes. How cool is that?!?

So, easiest bet that I can recommend is to head to Regina for aftermarket parts and to Chong Aik for standard replacement parts.

Future changes (wish list)?

- Need to up the performance further

- Need to figure out how to lighten the bike.

- Rear set

- New grips

- Sato Racing headers

- Floating discs

- Custom single seat conversion (I think the MT single seat looks shite!)

- Definately need more top end (in the mean time figure out wind protection).

What about you guys? Anything you've done or want done to yours?

Bro Justin ever consider installing PCIII with a dyno run for your ride~? :)

Bro Justin ever consider installing PCIII with a dyno run for your ride~? :)

Been thinking about it....

Thoughts are, if installed, Dynojet claims that the MT will get approximately 5% increase in hp (if lucky)... When I checked with a reseller here, that 5% is only if after market exhausts and air filters are installed as well to help the engine breathe.

With some research, I found that the MT is running on a 32bit ECU (I can't believe that I can't find this info on any Yamaha site)

32bit ECUs "learn" air intake and exhaust changes so that it manipulates the FI for the correct fuel load. That is basically what a PCIII is supposed to do... If our own ECU can do it already, then there is really not much need for a PCIII.

My question would be, does the PCIII handle ignition timing and EXUP controls as well? If it does, then it might be worth looking at...

I'm already running on filters and after-market exhausts (they should give me a few horses already). Let's assume the exhausts give me 1 hp and the filters give me another 1 hp. Then the PCIII assumed to give me 3 hp? Definately need more research before parting with my money laa... SGD600+ for a possible 5 hp iscrease is like not very worth it leh.

But then again, these are my thoughts. I heard from someone else that the MT is running on a 16bit ECU (which is not so "smart"). Maybe the website is talking about the '08 model while I'm running on an '05 model.

So...once again, need more research. Do let me know if you come across any material or info on the net.

Had an accident 2 days ago while riding my MT-01, nobody's fault except myself, going into corner too fast & was not preparing to enter the bend, hit on the kurb & fall on my left side, I guess the speed is around 20km/h before the impact

Nevertheless thanks goodness I was wearing full-face helmet, upper armour jacket with proper riding gloves & riding boots, now only having swallon left knees & couple of minor bruises at left shoulders & hips, if not for the proper gear, I could have gone worse

And thanks to two road users for helping me lift up my ride, as that point of time, my MT-01 exhaust was sitting on top of my left riding boots, so was unable to move out (thank God I was wearing my riding boots instead of normal footwear, if not my left foot would have been crushed)

The bike is still fully functional, close checking & find minor damages, will load up the photos of the damaged parts

No Bro~ the road is not wet, cause enter the bend too fast too furious, not paying attention & not preparing to enter the bend in proper way.

Yeah man definately heart pain but lucky the damage is not that great on my MT, should get the parts done up in 3-4 weeks time. And the proper riding gear safe me a big day.
