Engine oil additive, good or bad?

Stumbled upon engine oil additives by chance, did some quick research and there were articles supporting the benefits, while others pointed out the downsides. Just trying to find out, is it really worth it to get an engine oil additive added into my bike? Increased speed, quieter engine and a few other pros has been proven. However, increased engine damage has also been pointed out (not really proven, just stated). Maybe experience users could tell me more about it?
