One fact we can't deny is that whatever bike it might be, the rider must be happy on it. It can be the top of the line model or a simple commuter. As long as it works. But since this topic is about mid life crisis, I suppose it should be slightly different from the rest of the people who decides based on their own priorities.

I stopped riding, or rather stop owning motorcycles for almost 11yrs although during this period I still get to ride once awhile. But nothing beats owning your own bikes. Maybe it's simply becos I'm entering mid life and hence I like to reminisce some bikes which I never get to ride but absolutely love when I was younger. Also, I come to a point when instead of spending $30-40k on one bike, I will hunt down used ones going for much lesser price. That's also how I sort of justify to the Madam of the House on the multiple bikes I own now.

Tired of chasing the latest models and technology, and fact being I'm still the vain rider who wants something different from the rest, i go for more retro styling or old school bikes. Although they don't have ABS, traction control, and definitely has some wear and tear, the joy of riding them is never lesser. To me, riding at this stage of life is no longer like the younger days or chionging, rounding, supper'ing and touring. It's that little time I have to myself given that I have many other priorities in my life which mostly are towards my family. Hence the choice of bikes. I love the Super Tenere but decided to sell it cos I can't tour anymore until my younger girl grows older. My rides now are pretty now restricted to to and fro work. And I look forward to every chance I get to ride them. That's maybe why a mainstream model wouldn't satisfy me. As mentioned before, if financial status improves, my wish is to get 5 bikes and name them 'Monday' through 'Friday' accordingly. And one day buy one final 'extreme' model and name it 'Weekend'.

Interesting thread this.. And as some of u said.. It's not the age. It's the bike.. I chose a wrong bike to buy and I'm having a mid life crisis already... And I haven't even reach 30!!

I think with a bike u like.. Mid life crisis might not even exist!

Ride fast..ride safe..don't crash...

Your wrong bike might be someone's dream bike. Sell it off and get what you really want.

I happen to pull a buddy & his family along and we settled on a 50-50 deal. I take the weekdays as I need an alternative transport. My buddy takes the night and weekends. It was the perfect arrangement as my evenings & weekends are reserved for family. So no riding.

Weighed the pros and cons between the risks (breakdown, wear & tear, difficulty assessing condition) of a 10k COE bike vs a warrantied new bike. My buddy & I wanted to ride more than spending down time at workshop. So up the budget for the peace of mind. Interest rate is at all time high now so no instalments as well.

Yamaha WR200

Ducati Monster 400/540

Yamaha TDM850

Yamaha TDM900

BMW R1150GS

Suzuki Djebel 250XC

Suzuki Vstrom 650 ABS

Ducati Hyperstrada 821

Wow, the arrangement must work seamlessly to have lasted. Before the wedding my Wife and I wanted similar arrangement about the car. I gave up halfway thru and got a bike. Hahaha.

Maybe when my kids are older and more independent, I'll get a badass cruiser for occasional rides or short trips up North. Harley is perhaps the icon of cruisers but the Indian and Victory look awesome as well. Jap cruisers somehow doesn't have that character.

You may want to take a look at Suzuki Bandit 1250. Good low & mid torque, easy to handle and comes with a decent price tag cos not many riders appreciate what the bike can do.

I'm on one and no regrets. Simple machine, low maintenance. Taken a ride up Chiang Mai and some mountain roads together with my wife. Plenty of fun factor riding the machine.

Look wise, don't expect people to turn their heads when you ride pass them lah.

This might ease the itch for those with severe mid life crisis. The Moto Guzzi California Eldorado 1400.

For daily transport and economy, honda nc750x abs with dct is the best. If you like more power and touring, yamaha mt09 tracer is the best out there for the price.
