Haha... This thread somehow resonates with me. I'm in my late 30's and just started taking 2B lessons. Parents previously would never let me mount a motorcycle. Now I very much make my own decisions. But of course, with wife and a young kid, and some 20 years of driving experience, mindset is safety first, safety always.

Now that I can afford a little bit of luxuries in life, I'm planning to get a bike after I get my 2B. It's not gonna be a daily transport - I still drive, and wife doesn't drive. Was thinking of a little bit more "fun" machine for that weekend ride. Since owning and driving a sports car in our little expensive island is too prohibitive, I'm thinking of a cute sports bike to start off. Looking at the Yamaha R15 v2 or the Honda CBR 150R. But the Bajaj RS200 looks great too - though I believe it hasn't arrived in SG yet.

Thoughts, anyone?

Good move. Hahaha.... Even though u r a late bloomer, I would still advise u to get a decent 2B bike for a start but move up to 2A at the minimum. The differences are fairly far apart and when u talk about class 2 bikes, well that's almost a worlds apart.

Thanks! Well, that is the intent. I might possibly skip the 2A, and head for the 2. That's why I'm rationalizing getting the RS200 when it comes out in Singapore. 200cc being the upper limit of 2B, keep it for 3-4yrs while I accumulate riding experience (which will not be a lot considering that my daily transport is a car) and go through 2A and 2 licenses, before going for a full 2 bike.

U reckon that's a good idea? Or should I progressively do a 2B, then a 2A bike before getting a 2?

It's a personal preference and also dependent on individual ability I reckon. I have many friends who took this route of gg from 2B and straight to class 2. But u'll have more 'difficulties' given the significant differences in weight, size, power and handling. One thing at a time bro. For now just get your 2B!!

True. But I reckon that the 'difficulties' is probably similar to a newbie 2B licensee buying a new 2B bike - after a while, we all get used to it. =) Yes - everything only begins after I get my 2B. Can't wait.... next lesson this Wed.

Well..... It also depends on what kind of friends you have. I started off without any licence riding my friends' bikes. One day I lost a bet and had to go take my 2B and went on to class 2A quickly cos most of them were already on 400cc and I'm always last. Kind of stayed with 2A since most of us were on our 400cc bikes until one of them gotten a class 2 and a 750cc. Felt the power and book for class 2 lessons once 2A probationary up. Hahaha. Been riding for 20 over years since my 2B.

Yah. But I don't have such friends to lend me their bikes. Actually, most of my friends don't ride too. hahah..

Not practical for daily rides.

Yep, agree. It is a useless bike. But the most fun. Grinning every time I twist my right wrist :)

That's the reason why this thread is started right? Mid life crisis. Cure for crisis is fun. Not daily bike.

YOU ARE RIGHT!!

It's mid life crisis bike. Not a daily transportation thread. The more ridiculous the bike, the better the remedy. Hehehehe

a few bikes to choose from each day before going to work is a pleasure to have..

My mid-life crisis bike, the BMW R nine T :shades:

Has good power and handling, the stock Akra exhaust sounds fantastic and will definitely turn heads whether stopped at traffic lights or parked on the pavement...hehehhe

Or else another option would be the Moto Guzzi V7 racer, Mah was selling it at $23k OTR during their open house the other time...quite good deal...but abit underpowered.

I am in MLC too... And I choose the GSA LC... So far, no regret.

Good choice.... Many of my mates are riding this and swear by its performance. But for me it's been local rides only hence I didn't opt for a Adv Tourer. In fact I sold my Super Tenere very soon after my wife was pregnant with our 2nd baby couple years ago.
