Thailand has very frequent and convenient and INEXPENSIVE long distance bus services.. Gotta love their buses! High up so you can enjoy the sights, has an onboard toilet and even has a small cafe on the lower deck!

Met this Swiss guy on the opposite side of the road. He lives in Chiang Mai and his bike has broken down, spent some time attempting to help him fix it but to no avail. So i pushed on further north. Gave him a bottle of drinking water and continued on my way.

Decided to visit Mae Salong as i have heard stories about that place being beautiful. Mae Salong town is 35+KM from the nearest main road and is a predominantly Chinese influenced community. On the way up...

The Chinese Matyr Museum. The inhabitants of this town mainly came from Burma in the 1960's after the Burmese government decided they could no longer allow this KMT ppl to stay legally in their country. In response, these people took their families and mules and trekked across the mountains into Thailand. Later on, Thailand granted them refugee status. This town strongly resembles China. Almost everyone speaks chinese.

Initially i have planned to visit Mae Salong for a few hours. I ended staying for the night. Love the pristine and quiet environment and most importantly, the lack of foreign tourists. Rode to the peak of Doi Mae Salong (Elevation about 1600m) and was rewarded with one of the most beautiful views i have come across.

Made the decision to stay in Mae Salong Town instead of pushing on to Mae Sai. Turned out to be one of the best decisions of this trip. The following posts will tell the reason. This was what i called home for the night. A Quaint guesthouse called Little Home. THB200/night.

Mae Salong is a sleepy town with nothing to do after nightfall. While waitinf for my dinner to be served, I decided to have a look at my little meh meh....

How come the potato chip packet is so bloated? All the packaged foods look like this. Taken @ the local 7-11 which only opens from 7am-11pm. All the other shops there close at nightfall.
